So, is it 817 now? - Tenacity - 01-02-2009 I was posting in aki's personal log thread again when I had to think... oh wait, its the first of 2009... See, I 'number' each log file by date. The number you see in each post is created with the day of the week, month of the year, day of the month, and the current year in sirius. For example, a post on the 30th of december 2008 would have looked like # 2 (tuesday) 12 (december) 30 (30th of the month) 816 (sirius year: 816 A.S.), or log entry #21230816. The one I posted today (or last night, technically) was 4 (thursday) 1 (january) 1 (1st of the year) 817 (817 A.S.). So i'm just curious, do we now consider, in-game, for it to be 817 A.S. ? And will the next version of the mod, 4.85, be considered to have started within 817 A.S.? So, is it 817 now? - kindred - 01-02-2009 Time moves forth, characters grow older, story lines age. So, is it 817 now? - Tenacity - 01-02-2009 ' Wrote:Time moves forth, characters grow older, story lines age. well, yea =P I've set in Aki's profile and in-game that she's 24 years old, I guess now she's 25, though I never really set a specific birthdate for the character, just a year... So, is it 817 now? - Encheta - 01-02-2009 I voted yes, but now that I think about it I should've put no. The FL universe is separate from our own, and should stay as 816 even though we have moved on to the next year... Not that your log numbering's bad or anything. ..and with the birthdate thing - I reckon it'd be too hard to keep a characters actual birthday, so.. yea, in .85 I'd assume that she's already had her birthday. So, is it 817 now? - Orin - 01-02-2009 I thought it has been 817. Should be 818 now, eh? So, is it 817 now? - Tenacity - 01-02-2009 ' Wrote:I thought it has been 817. Should be 818 now, eh? nah, since i joined everyone's claimed it to be 816 A.S. in sirius at the moment =P I'm just going to go with it being 817, as far as I know thats what 4.85 will be anyways, whenever infocards or rumors mention a current year. So, is it 817 now? - hack - 01-02-2009 According to the Wiki, last year was 817, so this year should be 818. Edit: under time line of Sirius, under 9th century. Now on the front page of the Wiki it say 816. Possibly an error on the time line page, or someone forgot to update the front page So, is it 817 now? - jammi - 01-02-2009 In the readme it says it's 816AS, and I reckon the year would have progressed. I marked my story Gamblin' Chips 'n Sinkin' Ships (see sig) as 817 as well. So, is it 817 now? - Carlos_Benitez - 01-02-2009 A fair bunch of science fiction shows take place "now" and time advances at the same rate as RL. I don't see why it shouldn't be the same on Disco. Carlos Benitez has been wishing people a happy new year, in spanish, in RP this week. So, is it 817 now? - Kuraine - 01-02-2009 In my own view and what I know of 4.85 etc, 4.85 is generally set sometime in the middle of 817 A.S. That's just my take on it (and my work has been conducted accordingly, for the most part). |
