Proposed In-RP Punishment System - Dieter Schprokets - 01-29-2009

I'm interested in implementing something that will 1) Increase RP and 2) solve a recently-noticed problem

It has come to my attention that some BAF members are not consistently obeying the orders of their superior officers.

This has especially become a problem with respect to the following BAF Rule:

3. BAF members are always to obey their superior officers. Junior officers WILL obey senior officers target assignments in combat, PERIOD. Disobedience loses battles.

If you are assigned a target in a battle, you must obey that order. Period. I have seen this rule been ignored myself, and other upper ranked officers report the same. But they don't know what to do about it.

Now having said that, I recognise this is a game, not a real Military, and I am not interested in trying to achieve the obedience level of a real military, or rake people over the coals for this.

But I would like to bring the standard up a bit, and the best way to do that is with in-RP punishments, no hard feelings type of thing, immediately enforced by a superior officer. Commanders and above may have the authority to enforce the punishment, on the spot:

In-RP Minor Punishments for Disobedience

(Commander and up, enforced immediately)

-Anti-smuggler patrols (Leeds/Dublin) for remainder of shift
-Mundane trader escort duty for remainder of shift
-Credit Fine ($1,000,000) (Somewhat harsher, for multiple violations, not to be commonly used, nor abused)

A member so punished must accept their punishment. If they don't, it becomes my problem, and I will warn the player, then consider the following:

-'Grounded' for x number of days
-Demotion
-Expulsion from faction

(I really don't expect it will get that far though)

Comment on this please, BAF Members.

This is an interesting idea, and not just for the Bretonian Armed Forces.

and thats the reason i left BAF, cus some of their higher ranked people are jsut outright Dumb,

(in 1 of the KNF fights where both sides had caps, you thought it would be gud 2 hold the bombers back and lets cap VS caps, and guess which caps died? ours, and then we all got gunboat/missle spammed, Nice work peeps!)

And again cosmos, an outright and blatent targeted insult. Sort this out or there will be trouble.

This is an RP server. It's about the roleplay, not the winning or losing of battles. In real life, you follow the orders of your superiors, win or lose. They'll get the glory or the shame of the result. That's how it is. If you want to be 'king of war' or what not, join a PVP server and cobble together a clan there. It's all about order (In theory) here. RULES>RP>WIN/LOSE>YOUR OPINION. Is how things go for the most part. You play by the rules, you RP to the best of your ability, you fight your battles within the rules, then voice your opinion about it all. It doesn't mean people will listen but thats what people do here:P

The system has some merit though. As far as I've seen from the BAF though they are well organised. As a pirate in there system they escorted me out, rather than go all guns blazing. The LTC they used though wasn't too keen on withholding firepower, but followed orders regardless. (Although underarmed and outnumbered compared to myself and my partner)

It's well thought out, other factions should try it too.

Well, dash it all, Sir, surely a fiery flogging and rambunctious rogering by the burly boys aboard the Wellesley would teach the pink-cheeked new-boys a thing or two about Bretonian discipline as well as these innovative ideas and meagre measures?

Having said that, I wish to vociferoulsy halloo a wholehearted "huzzah" to these righteous regulations.

Long may the lower orders learn to like their place in the line. And a damn good licking to the ne'er do wells who buck and refuse the bit! Trousers down and have at you.

Be quiet, that man or so help me, I'll give you a taste of my boot up your leaky behind! If such dribblings are the extent of your sense of discipline and duty, then perhaps you should have signed up to join the Auxiliary Women's Balloon Corps.

Good riddance, you vile wart-hog. Be sharp with departing our beloved Bretonia or I'll have the torpedo crew on you faster than you can say "Load his tube".

Baaaah!

Although i'm not in BAF, i would like to point out a small thing.

There are some people who get targetted by people really good, and then they can't shake them. If there ordered to attack someone else, then it's like a death wise for them, because there easy targets for the person/s chasing them. If they don't chase the person because they know that, then it looks like there violating an order.

But apart from that i like the idea of it.
