RIP Stephen Hawking - oZoneRanger - 03-14-2018

The biggest Brain of our time passed away last night at the age of 77. 55 years ago, he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease and given 2 years to live. Since that time he, wrote or co-wrote more than 15 books, developed a mathematical model for Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity and the nature of the universe, and managed to appear in the Simpsons, The Big Bang Theory and an episode of Star Trek TNG.

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.
It matters that you don't just give up.”

- Dr Stephen Hawking

A great mind working under the skin of a disabled body. He approached the human kind to the stars a bit further...

RIP Stephen Hawking.

RE: RIP Stephen Hawking - Mr.Mike. - 03-14-2018

"Good-bye, Stephen.

You have proved to all world two things:
1) Physicists can always be steeper than pop stars.
2) If a person wants something, he will always find a way to fulfill his desires.

Thank you."

One of my closest friends was a pupil of his, so it's still quite personal. She was inspired by him to take up a particle physics masters despite being paraplegic. It's safe to say without Dr Hawking's precedent, she wouldn't have become the teacher she is today, or half as content within her own life. Professor Hawking had a great life, lived far beyond his life expectancy and both his academia, media presence and advocacy for both theoretical physics and the image of disabled academics makes for quite the Legacy.

Sadly he never got to go to space before he left us, although he fulfilled so many of his other dreams (along with inspiring enough of others) that it's difficult to move beyond that. His foundation continues to do good works in his name. Wonderful human, who has done so much for the rest of us. His research continues to shape our comprehension of the cosmos, to which our collective fates are all infused.

Rest in peace legend.

Truly a loss to this world. He is why I get upset with people who hide behind disabilities and say "I can't." Stephen Hawking didn't let his condition beat him....EVER!
