Powertrading etc - Fozzie - 02-02-2009 I switched my trade ship to a Firefly bc it doesn't jam CONSTANTLY in gates and lanes like the long ships do. Personally trading for me is a far less interesting aspect of the game, I trade to fund my other chars as it's the only way I find to do so. There are a lot of people on here who want to be able to trade with a few less restrictions so we can get on with playing much more entertaining parts of the game. When I try to rp my trader it always seems to end up the only others looking to rp with me are pirates demanding money or cargo. Basically I want to spend way more time playing than trying to make money so I look for the trading to be as quick and profitable as possible and why not? Personally I think "Powertrading" is a necesary evil untill the missions and loot available on missions give us the same money making ability. When I fly missions ammo cost and ship repairs always cost more than the mission pay and loot adds up to otherwise I wouldn't even need a trade char since trucking isn't what I'm on here for I do enough of that in rl. Powertrading etc - Zapp - 02-02-2009 Power trading, IMO, is a tad overused, and should only be used to refer to people that trade with no RP on the best route(s) simply to buy big ships etc. Not my place to comment much on it though... I don't trade, I hardly ever use my pirate, and most of my interdiction of them happens on my Phantom, in which case you find another quality of (a few) power traders: revenge killing, rules lawyering, and whining. Powertrading etc - Hawk - 02-02-2009 I agree with Zapp. There are people who trade because they enjoy trading. Some people have more fun blowing things up and some people just enjoy flying and RP. Powertrading etc - Drake - 02-02-2009 Trading is a an unpleasant necessity, as far as I'm concerned. When I'm trading I usually just try to make as much money as fast as possible, and I rarely can bring myself to do so for more than 20 or 40 minutes (one or two round trips). I generally greet people in local chat, RP with people if they want to RP with me, and chat with pirates who stop me and generally end up paying them. But it's really all about making money quickly so I can move on to fun things. Powertrading etc - SGTMatt - 02-02-2009 Trading does suck, but if you aren't in that much of a hurry you can meander through and BS with the locals and have SOME fun in it. And, if you need a little excitement, don't feed the pirates.... Powertrading etc - cmfalconer - 02-02-2009 I also agree with Zapp (an epidemic is spreading). PowerTrading is a term that gets thrown to a lot of people. I've seen it said to correctly tagged and ID'd ships that are just buzzing around hauling Cobalt or Ship Panels...not exactly huge-profit there, but nice money and in RP as well. I enjoy the peace of trading once in a while. I will be around flying my Whale through the Omegas or through Liberty as well. If you want to RP, fly a Whale. Only the stupid pirates will blow you up...you're not much of a threat to them. I've been blowed up by several pirates whom i've tried to RP with, and I've had some of the best experiences on Disco with pirates who accept the offer. I've delivered, under Corsair escort, ship-fulls of food, water, fertilizer, etc to Crete several times in lieu of the 2million usually charged. It creates fun for many and a chance to go where i normally wouldnt. If you want some fun as a trader, take the road less travelled. Deliver some Counterfeit software to Omega49 (as long as the Liberty lol-fuls aren't camping Manhatten). Or run the gauntlet between Rheinland and Liberty, or Bretonia and Kusari. Or hire some of the GMG as escorts through some bad space, haul a load of H-Fuel through Rheinland to Bretonia...or anywhere. Make things exciting. It's not always about the money. (there goes my IND application) Powertrading etc - William Frederick Cody - 02-02-2009 ' Wrote:Power trading, IMO, is a tad overused, and should only be used to refer to people that trade with no RP on the best route(s) simply to buy big ships etc. ' Wrote:Trading is a an unpleasant necessity, as far as I'm concerned. When I'm trading I usually just try to make as much money as fast as possible, and ...Of course we trade only for lots of credits to buy anything we want. Traders are important for the server. With better trade routes we will have more trader-traffic in other areas of sirius. About Nobium: I dont know why all people fly nobium and diamonds. Other routes are similar in profit and less dangerous, and its boring to fly the same route everytime. Powertrading etc - swift - 02-02-2009 I agree with parts of everyone's opinions here so far. I trade(d) generally for the money, but RPing along the way as well, cause it makes it less boring. Anyways, I have found my calling for earning money. That'd be racing, 450 mil earned racing so far. Yes, envy me, mortals.:P And what I find best for trading are round trips of the whole Sirius. I usually start at Falkland in Tau-37, and go through Liberty, Rheinland, Borderworlds, Kusari, wherever I feel like going anyways. Plus a long circular run is more profitable thatn the tedious diamond niobium run which I grew tired of after around 20 trips through that hideously large Honshu, and the ugly Sigma.:P Plus the NPCs disrupting the lanes in Frankfurt didn't help either. Powertrading etc - Yuva - 02-02-2009 Trading is not suck at all if you do proper RP just dont go for a Trader ID instead go for a ID like a Zoner, Repx, Synth food etc and then do trading but first see what this group basically do and then you can do good rp in your trader.....I enjoying trading in my zoner account. Powertrading etc - CCI45-px/Probe149 - 02-02-2009 I have to agree with Zapp that "powertrading" is overused. Some people see every person who flies a Atrain as Powertrader, and that's not fair, nor correct. But as we all know, money is necessary for all of us. Some people can't missionwhore themself the money they need :-) . Especially in Liberty, i think the highest lawful mission i got there was 50k, while in Rheinland you get 100k if you know where to look. |
