Most strategically important system in Sirius? (BESIDES NEW YORK) - Stolt. - 04-27-2018

This question may or may not influence some RP I'm planning, but I want to hear from you guys which system you think is the most strategically important system in Sirius.

To give a real-life reference, Diego Garcia is often referred to as the world's most strategically important military base because it overlooks the Indian Ocean shipping lanes through which 80% of the world's oil is transported through.

So which system (Besides New York or the House capital systems) do you think is the most strategically important star system in Sirius, and why?

Currently I'm leaning towards Baffin because it's smack dab in the middle of the Taus, Independent Worlds, Liberty and Bretonia. I can't think of another system which connects more regions of space than that.

Alaska, Omicron Delta or Omicron Rho.

Alaska is the bulwark between Liberty and Nomad space. I doubt Liberty would want to sleep on that.

Omicron Delta is rife with resources and ruins, as well as it being the crossroads of the Omicrons.

Omicron Rho is the bulwark between Rheinland and Nomad space. Plus it's where Core does all their sneaky shady stuff.

Up until Gallia things were rather centralized, but now it's probably towards that axis. I'd put my money somewhere along the Taus as well.

Sigmas, especially 13, are very important due to the resources of H-Fuel. In vanilla Freelancer GMG is reponsible for supplying all of Sirius.

I'd say Frankfurt, seeing as how that connects the rest of Rheinland with Munich and the Sigmas.

Definitely Omicron Delta. It is the access point of Iridium and the first bullwark against nomad activity. It has a reason it is a hotspot of activity of all kinds of factions and individuals. It baits with Iridium, Azurite, Nomad materials and acts as crossroad of Omicrons and Rheinland.

If I were to guess, I'd probably go with Baffin as well. Also because the whole system is a NFZ and thus can offer asylum to certain groups.

Leeds, it's the most industrializes system as far as I know and whoever holds the facilities on Leeds holds very good production capabilities.

Taus, Bretonia, Kansas and Pennsylvania. Primary - resourses. Other don`t care. With resourses you can supplying capital ships, building defence for your Home etc.

I would describe Delta more as "strategically perilous" rather than strategic, it's a high risk high reward environment (inRP at least, ooRP I'd say it's a moderately rewarding environment because I don't know what ore is mined/sold there). With the near constant state of war amongst several factions who switched and changed sides and new factions emerging every now and then (Outcasts, Corsairs, the Order, Nomads, Core, Zoners, Coalition), it's basically discovery's equivalent of the middle east/iraq. And due to a lack of Ore mining/sellpoint (I COULD BE WRONG ABOUT THIS SO CORRECT ME IF I AM), not as much money can be made in terms of ooRP given the risk you'd have to take.

With the Taus, I don't find things to be as dangerous as they used to be 5-10 years ago, but that might just be my timezone (or the end of the Bretonian-Kusari War or disappearance of the 101st). Lots of different mining ores pass through here to their final destinations though e.g. cryo-organisms, platinum and although cardamine isn't mined, it's pretty profitable.

EDIT: Just saw Sombra's post, someone correct me if I'm wrong about ore mining at Delta please

IMO inRP the sigmas should be important due to H-Fuel but I also find the in game profitability of H-Fuel isn't that high in comparison with other commodities.
