A Briefing on The York Between Captain Laura Remes and Admiral E. Steiner - Kalhmera - 06-12-2018

Laura seemed hesitant to enter one of Her Majesties Warships as she had never thought an opportunity would ever arise, even with her feeling nervous her posture and body language showed she was confident and ready to be briefed on the war front.

Admiral, I am here and ready to start our meeting.

So you are. came the reply and a young ensign was sent to collect her.

The Office of the Admiral was typically Bretonian, an oak desk being the dominating central feature, along with a portrait of the Queen on the back wall. Several wooden book cases, maps and star charts on a smaller table in the corner and a large open window looking out toward Southampton made up the rest of the office. The Admiral himself sat at his desk writing letters when she arrived.

Captain he said standing up as she entered Welcome aboard the York. Truth be told he was trying to keep a straight face, women were not his strong suit and he had been dealing with a number of them recently, all young, pretty, vibrant creatures to which Laura was no exception. Tell me, what do you know of our current situation?

Laura was incredibly impressed on the decor of Admiral Steiner's office, she wished more men in the Crayterian Military had his sense of style. She composed herself and kept a straight face.

I know the basics but would rather you not leave anything out in case I was misinformed before my departure from Coronado. Things can change in a second and I dont want to risk missing any important details. Laura spoke softly May I sit down Admiral?

He tried to keep his expressions in check but he struggled against the internal feeling guilt and his own feelings of shyness.Stick to the plan came the call throughout his mind, God knows how he managed to survive a meeting with Commodore Brooks let alone this woman.

Of course he said, recovering his wits and gesturing to one of the two chairs that faced the open window. Our position is about is good as it gets in these sorts of positions, however the front line now rests just over there he said pointing toward the shipyards Therefore, the bulk of the defence will be here, at Southampton. Your ship however will be stationed by Battleship Suffork, for support and early response if New London or the Essex in Dublin comes under attack.

Laura paused for a moment ensuring she was hearing everything Admiral Steiner was saying.

Laura adjusts her hair being so close to the Planet New London is an Honor Admiral, do you have by chance the numbers on how many attacks have been close to Planet New London?

Enough to loose track, although most of them a concentrated here, on the Shipyards. Naturally you will be expected to bolster the defence if the force we face is large enough, but that's a case by case basis. For now, ready your crew, they will have a number of sleepless nights ahead of them I assume, then you will know how stressful war can be if you don't already.

Laura shfits her posture, and begins to speak

Me and my crew are ready for what comes ahead, I have already instructed my XO to start rotating shifts to ensure my men are at optimal performance should we be called to action. I do have a question concerning the unlawfuls in Bretonia, Would you allow us to assist in their capture or destrution should they threaten Her Majesties ships or station wihin New London?

That matter is...complicated.. he said standing up, beginning to pace around the office. We have negotiated with various groups that this invasion concerns us all. The Gaians, Mollies and SCRA have all agreed to ceasefires. We have, for once, as a unified house, all agreed that this invasion concerns us all. That while we may not like each other or see eye to eye on many matters, if the Gallic advance is not stopped, it won't matter where we're standing. We will all be crushed under the heel of such repulsive tyranny that what we think and feel won't matter to anyone. Naturally, no one expects this truce to last beyond the war, but right now, that seems to be a very very long way off indeed.

His pacing led him to a concealed drinks cabinet in the wall, hidden behind one of the book shelves. Upon reaching it, he produced a large bottle of scotch, which was already partly empty, and a glass. He poured a large helping and sat back down at his desk, bringing the bottle with him. Before he continued, he downed the glass and quickly poured another. The only group we still have issues with are the bloody Corsairs...oh and occasionally the Hessians, but they seem content to irritate Rheinland more than us. Cambridge is their main target...I don't care what you do with them, they show us no quarter, and I have a policy of responding in kind, but when the time comes, it is up to you to decide.

Laura hears a ping come from her transponder but ignores it for the time being.

I will keep the cease-fire in mind and only act on self-defence of my vessel and any of Her Majesties Ships as well. War is not something I like but when in the position I will do what is necessary to win. I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield Admiral. Another ping from Laura's transponder can be heard Admiral it seems I am needed aboard the Dionysus, is there anything else you need to tell me?

He shook his head while pouring himself another glass No. Obey our laws, don't take up drinking like I have, and good luck. That will be all captain.
