An odd roleplay story keeps sticking in my head - Fletcher - 02-10-2009
For some reason when I'm listening to my music, usually Hell March 3 on my phone, a weird battle scene almost always pops up about Freelancer. Yes, I've cracked.
What happens is, Liberty and Rheinland capitals and fighters, the lot are in heavy fighting. And near the end, Liberty is getting torn up a fair bit, the Rheinland ships are too durable. Then, some Liberty Gunboats come in from behind the Liberty Dreadnoughts, and charge towards the Rheinland Battleships and Cruiser, engines on overdrive, to the point of flaming. But the gunboats only have forward main gun attached, but have pods attached to the hull.
When the Gunboats get in range, they open up their guns and the pods deploy, they hold Liberators, about 10 per Gunboat and each Liberator has no guns, but loads of Cannonball and Lancer missiles with Nuke mine launchers. The Liberators unload but go on collision course with the Battleships, same as the Gunboats, they're going to ram the battleships. But that's not all, the Gunboats have rear pods with nuke mines, and when closed in they deploy a lot of nuke mines, dumb ones no tracking.
Effectively, the Gunboats ram the Battleships, and the Liberators unload a lot of missiles onto the damaged ship at the breaches then finally the Nuke mines saturate the hull all over. The Gunboats are no more than bunker busters with clusters bombs on board.
I'm totally unsure if this is roleplay worthy in lore only, I know it is illegel. It would be a odd twist for the Sentinel docks to take things. No human loss for Liberty, but dealing massive damage to the Rheinland Battleships, since they are low in number. Liberty Gunboats and Liberators are mass produced as the dime goes. And costs less than a Liberty Dreadnought.
