Cannot connect to local Freelancer server - Igiss - 02-11-2009 The situation is as follows: For a long time, I've had Windows XP SP2 installed on my computer. During this time, I was able to launch FLServer.exe and Freelancer.exe simultaneously. Freelancer saw the local server as LAN server, and successfully connected. Now I've reinstalled Windows with SP3, and Freelancer no longer sees the local server. Firewall and network settings have not been altered in any way (I use 3rd party firewall). I've already tried adding correct IP to my Freelancer shortcut. Adding localhost IP, my internet IP, local network IP... nothing works. Any ideas? Cannot connect to local Freelancer server - Linkero - 02-11-2009 Have you tried to open the port up through the firewall? I noticed you said it wasn't altered in anyway... if all else fails revert back to sp2 Cannot connect to local Freelancer server - Incindre - 02-12-2009 Doesn't XP have a service pack 4? You could upgrade to that if it exists. Try disableing firewalls and protection etc. Unless you are browsing the web it shouldn't be too much of a problem. But if all else fails you could, like Linkero says revert back to 2. Or go to Linux or Ubuntu or something that isn't Microsoft rubbish, but thats just a thought. Good luck Cannot connect to local Freelancer server - Turkish - 02-12-2009 ' Wrote:Doesn't XP have a service pack 4? You could upgrade to that if it exists. First of all Ubuntu is a Linux distro. Secondly there are only two ways which I know of to run Freelancer under Linux. One is a commercial product, the other is impractical. Its a simple question, but have you made sure that there isn't some form of resident protection blocking FL from accessing your network? Cannot connect to local Freelancer server - skoko - 02-12-2009 Instalation of SP3 , i think (forgot) resets all system settings for LAN adapters... and it reactivates windows firewall , so , what might be problem is : - Windows firewall not configured - Port on router not opened for Freelancer I had exactly same problem with SP3.. but then i solved it with fixing above mentioned. Now i am running XP + SP2 with all SP2 updates without any problems, both at work and home. Skoko Cannot connect to local Freelancer server - Igiss - 02-13-2009 Actually I fixed this already by using separate folders for the server and the game. This makes the process a bit more lengthy, which isn't that good, but at least it works. Cannot connect to local Freelancer server - Dopamino - 02-13-2009 I have had the same problem. Thanks for sharing the solution, Igiss, I'm gonna try it. |
