My Showcase - Pyro - 02-11-2009

Righto, from various requests, personal, themed work here is my showcase...
From what I have seen here thus far, There are some pretty awesome graphic workers.

But here we go, not in order of creation just by suit really, as you can tell, the ones which lack quality are from a while ago when I was tweaking with some different ideas and affects etc.

Comments etc all welcome

Not bad, you've got some chops. The Lord Jay and Jack Bauer ones look very nice.

Shame they're all so small. You should try to fit some into the max size limit here (700x250).

My Showcase - ioha - 02-11-2009

Hmm... nice. You actually got that 'busy' sig style, which is not entirely to my taste, but I know a lot of people like it - and it's the usual style found on forums across the net.

Actually, I like the Mario sigs the most. 'specially the Yoshi one. Not only 'cause I was a Yoshi fan when I was a child, but also because I love that style the most: effective use of transparency, simple yet great use of composition and a clear colour structure.

Heh thanks:D

Personally I like working on the smaller size's as Thats what I have done since I have started off, just doing some very large render jobs for a friend of mine, rendering flames, wow takes a while.

Just worth a mention, all stock models are all rendered by myself:)

Aye that seems to be the one everyone likes the most, main thing I seem to find is that most of the sigs I do or near enough all of them are intended for forums with a dark background, so they have a better affect, due to the contrast in colours etc.
I've tried to get away from the busy look before a few times, but it isnt that easy to get away from, probably because I work on a small canvas?

My Showcase - Pyro - 02-11-2009

Oh yea, my current sig, I got the stock from This Image and the Avatar I got from This Image

Could well be the case.
If you feel like breathing some fresh air, try going for a wide canvas (as in 7:1 ratio) or try creating some own wallpapers - once I did that, I got myself some new techniques as well.

Also, I used to do a lot of photography, which helped me getting 'an eye' for larger pictures (as my exhibition work was printed on 90x60cm line cloth)

My Showcase - Pyro - 02-12-2009

Hmm, I'm currently trying out the 700 x 250, and finding it kinda hard to make a good one which isnt too busy, might try a less height and see how that goes.

Yup, I to have made some wallpapers in the past (again when I was only just starting out) so they wasnt all that good.
But I done photography In college and really enjoyed it, so much I passed with flying colours on the practicle side, and failed epicly on the academic side.
Also done Digital Media, which was where I learned the basics of photoshop, the rest I picked up from self exploration and online tuts.

Something good to get a feel for is simplicity. Busy looks good sometimes, but if you can make a signature look nice while having it incredibly simple, you can do almost anything.

<looks at Sleip's current sigs>

My Showcase - Pyro - 02-12-2009

*Pokes Orin with a pointy stick*

there not that simple, In fact they are some of the best I have seen to date

My Showcase - Orin - 02-12-2009

No, his current ones are incredibly simple. A ship, the background, a logo cut into the side. That's all, and that's not bad thing. Those sigs are incredible.

But if you can create a sig that is incredibly simple, and still make it look wonderful, it's much easier to create anything at all. Not to mention embellishing without overworking and busying becomes more natural.
