[Public Discussion/Request] What about overhauling CR guns to be kinetic guns? - TheShooter36 - 09-12-2018 Yes, overhauling CR's Particle and Photon guns to Kinetic guns, all the way from snub guns, to battleship guns. As i write this, i can already hear some of the community grumbling. "But Colonials are an irrelevant faction in bigger scheme of Sirius and does not deserve shinies, how you justify producing an entire line of kinetic guns?!" And thats where it becomes logical for a rather minör faction to produce kinetic guns. First of all, we are not from Sirius, technically, although our current tech is an adaptation of IMG tech, our own pre-sirius tech and generic civilian/common tech adapted, why would a faction, that can use cheap to produce, crude and well known retrofitted good old bullets and shells of various sizes, instead use highly sensitive, sophisticated and expensive energy weapons? Because shield tech? You can use EM-tipped rounds that creates a reaction to shields! For breaching armor? Why not outright pierce armor with high caliber rounds instead of trying to melt it with plasma/photon? Instead of taxing powercore of the ships to produce immense power, why not just use a propulsion system and send bullets around? Some of you are probably thinking, "how devs will implement this? What is the purpose of this? Why you love to take their precious time for your puny faction?" and i say, implementing those wouldnt be that hard. We already have a bomber chaingun, Kinetic cap codename and maxim chaingun. Meaning some effects are there and those could be merely resized or some variations could be made quickly. All it would take then replacing the effects of our current guns, changing damage type to "resisted" and rebalancing the guns, plus creating ammo for them. Regarding purpose, the purpose is giving something unique to a non-vanilla faction that has potential to be unique. To be honest i could see Gallia sticking to kinetic guns rather than developing energy cannons too, after all they stuck to Oil too. I would like actual kinetic guns, uses ammo, with shield penalty and all that jazz. Of course there is no reason to not have a generic set of kinetic guns too. I'd happily do something similar with UN's cap guns as they're meant to be distantly related to 80 years war guns. My only issue with this is that you take a faction that has gone through a lot of work to avoid Battlestar Galactica associations (because it was an import, down to models and lore, it still is way too close with its colour scheme, themes, and overall mantra), and give it this: ![]() RE: [Public Discussion/Request] What about overhauling CR guns to be kinetic guns? - Titan* - 09-13-2018 faction based different weapons types always a good thing but that is alot of work. if each faction gonna get around 10 15 weapon including capital weapons that is around 500 weapon because there is too many factions but there is easier way most factions are part of the bigger factions like red hessian is part of the rheinland faction so give them rheinland weapons instead of giving them their own weapons factions that is not part of a big faction like Core Order Crayter should get their own weapons |
