I was talking to someone in game today, they had an Advanced Train, and I've been looking to get the Heavy Tanker. One thing that has always intrigued me about the Trains is the cargo pods. He tells me they will actually change the colour of your pods on the train. Three questions. One, is this true? Two, what colours are they? and Three, do they only work on Trains?

1. Yes

2. Look at the NPC transports and trains, they both use the same cargo pods, or look at any major planets shield seller, you can also fly around with no pods on your ship.

3. Only on the Vanilla style transports.

My other question is, what happens if my ship gets destroyed, do I lose the pods? (much like with Spaceship Crews)

And the Advanced Train is one of the ships that can get the coloured pods, yes?

Its a piece of mounted equipment on the ship, and acts like any other mounted piece of gear on your ship.

Transport, Large Transport, Train, Large Train and the Advanced Train are all of the ships that can mount them I think.

It should also be added and noted that, especially when you're getting whacked by someone who is using missiles, that your cargo pods can act as systems to be destroyed as well - without actually causing you any real loss of cargo.

Thus, if you happen to be close enough to run for a base, and the pirate is shooting at you and blowing off your cargo pods - you may end up actually surviving the encounter where otherwise you wouldn't. It's up to you to decide whether or not a repair bill is worth it - although I've never had much issue in paying 200,000 in repairs when the pirate wanted 4 million or dai!

They also can absorb a SN blast, saving your ship and only losing a pod. My pods have indeed saved my ship many times in the past.
