Alright that's a poll on what a bounty Hunter is.

Please comment:P

According to the rules, it's the third option apparently.

I choose none of the above. A Bounty Hunter is a broad term. It depends on how you RP it. You could be a pirate hunter out for revenge for some past wrong, out for gold, glory, or cleavage, or just plain out for the adventure.

In the end, its what you make of it. Of course, you have to have a bounty to blow up a pirate unless you provoke them into attacking first...

actually I think you mean Bounty hunters guild member. (aren't the NPC's called that way?), because I think there can be unlawful bounty hunters as well, at least in discovery where both sides post bounties. so the members of the guild would be option #3 excepting there would be lone hunters as well. and since they are bounty hunters they will only attack when there's someone paying for the heads.

And maybe get another ID: Pirate hunter

These men and women are so angry because of events in there past they started their own war against all pirates and are killing them, wherever they are.

So, is there anywhere we can see if the Hunters have rules in the Guild, all that kind of stuff ?

I think they are essentially the Mercanary's:P
But i would say that a bounty hunter would be mostly option 3 as they wouldnt want to risk their ship on fighting something or someone if they arent making their profit.

Quote:Organised guild collecting Bounties on unlawlful, would NOT attack unless it is profitable

In my opinion, this is the most correct of those statements

However, if you had included this choice:

Quote:Individual who collects Bounties on unlawlful, would NOT attack unless it is profitable

I would have chosen it. I still think the bounty hutners shouldn't really be organized into a large guild. I think they would be more individualists who might occasionally team up with eachother for a large bounty, but otherwise go it solo. Maybe a small say "squadron" of them as a group but I dont think they would be anything larger.

Now... someone please tell me how what I'm saying is completely off :D

Edit: I REALLY wanted to vote #1 just for the fun of it

A member of an organized guild collecting Bounties on "unlawful" people, in pursuit of wealth. That would be the definition of your every day garden variety bounty hunter.
There are unorthodox cases, of course.

Also a note, Bounty Hunters are no way "good", they don't do anything out of the goodness of their hearts, as some certain "we protect traders, we're good, dai evil pirate" people might think.

Darkwolf i think you'r right. But is'nt that what Mercs are ?:P

In my eyes they're just a bunch of mercenaries, killing other humans just for some credits.
(That's why my Order character hates em)

But, most Hunters that I see (that actually RP) are usually "good guys", they act as police, without the loyalty or restrictions, I've seen Hunters save/protect traders and other pilots for no real reason or payment.

So the rest of my lawful characters are fine/happy with Hunters.

BHG are different from mercs in that they owe their loyalties to the guild. Mercs owe loyalty to no one. As such, being a member of the BHG gives you a straightforward reputation, whereas mercs have to work to establish their rep.
