''PvP Token'' aka ''Pilot Skill' System (Aka Automated Bounties) without FLHook usage - sindroms - 08-16-2019 Good day, ladies and gets. I have an idea. Don't close this thread yet, for I think it might actually be a good one this time. I recently saw a post exclaiming how somoene wanted to bring credit cards back, so that they could carry some on their character in order to reward people for killing them. I thought that this was silly. But then I put my brain to use a bit more and realized that this might actually be the solution to many issues we have with our bounty system as well an interesting source of completely new mechanics. Let us talk about faction ranking systems. We have many, but most are for show or for the ''feeling'' of progression. Likewise we have characters who are described as elites, or carry their pride of their skill on their shoulder. I think it would be interesting to let them do it. Introducing a set of cargo items, named the Mark of Excellence. Note: Name is not important, is subject to change. These items are sold everywhere and all have the same cost. Mark of Excellence - Recruit (500.000$) Mark of Excellence - Novice (1.000.000$) Mark of Excellence - Adept (10.000.000$) Mark of Excellence - Veteran (20.000.000$) Mark of Excellence - Ace (50.000.000$) Mark of Excellence - Admiral (100.000.000$) Type of item: Cargo Volume: 0 So what is this nonsene you just read? First thing is first, this is an RP item which's primary purpose is competition, profit, PVP and other. This item is NOT mandatory and nobody has to have it. But! Say that you are the best fighter pilot in your faction. Would you be inclined to put your money where your mouth is worth? A faction leader may assign marks to ranks. Or maybe you are an independent freelancer or bounty hunter, looking for hire ingame. And you want to advertise what you yourself think your skill is worth. Now you can do that. Showing off, daring and challenging is the primary reason for these marks. They exist to promote challenge not just to people going after them, but also people who want to test their own capabilities. Who tractors these items in the case of a defeat is completely irrelevant. Instead, it is the thought itself that counted. You were willing to prove your skill to others within or out of roleplay. Obviously, this is intimately tied to the sense of fairplay, which we have a varying amount of. In other words, the items may also be used to gauge the fairness of an inevetable fight and, perhaps, avoid ganks by encouraging the wielder of the highest marks to challenge the enemy to a duel or to delegate the duel to someone on his side with an equal sense of self-worth. The item, of course, also acts like an advanced instant-payout bounty system. This idea is VERY rough. Suggestions and thoughts are appreciated. RE: ''PvP Token'' aka ''Pilot Skill' System (Aka Automated Bounties) without FLHook usage - Freeport7 - 08-16-2019 I like it very much ![]() I'm totally on board with something like this! RE: ''PvP Token'' aka ''Pilot Skill' System (Aka Automated Bounties) without FLHook usage - Karst - 08-16-2019 Actually, I quite like that. I was reminded of a discussion I recently had about moneysinks, the cost of equipment, and expensive vanity items. This isn't really directly related, but it's something that looks interesting. If such a thing existed, I'd certainly be tempted to buy some, and I'd also be tempted to destroy them if I ever witnessed the death of a player holding one....I feel the removal of mark and money from the playing world would be far more satisfying than the actual monetary reward. I have a Zoner gunboat which I've fought quite a lot on but never died, chock full of codename weapons. Whoever kills that thing for the first time will have quite the drop in front of them, and that kind of risk/reward is something I really enjoy. It's basically the old super high value credit cards with a cooler name. RE: ''PvP Token'' aka ''Pilot Skill' System (Aka Automated Bounties) without FLHook usage - LaWey - 08-16-2019 Good thing. RE: ''PvP Token'' aka ''Pilot Skill' System (Aka Automated Bounties) without FLHook usage - Wesker - 08-16-2019 Hehe RE: ''PvP Token'' aka ''Pilot Skill' System (Aka Automated Bounties) without FLHook usage - TheShooter36 - 08-16-2019 I would definitely collect them and store them on a PoB instead of selling or destroying. Would carry one or two myself on the characters that made sense to do so. I get where you're coming from but it's unfortunately too much hard work to be viable.
