Superheavy model design ideas (open for suggestions and images) - Enkidu - 09-05-2019

I've decided I'm going to take a crack at modelling a Unioner superheavy fighter (no guarantees anything approvable will come out of it, of course). I wanted to democratise the process a little. Please submit design ideas below in the replies section, and I'll try to model them into the design. Any reference images pulled from scifi or the real world to describe what you'd like to see, would be good too.

Unioner ships tend to be a crossbreed of Rheinland lawful designs (big, sturdy wheels/hexagons), the Eagle/Roc line, and what I like to think of as '1970s aircraft aluminum curves'.

This is mostly a skill development exercise (questions about if such a ship is needed, etc, arn't relevant to the OP. I'm just seeing if I can do it). I'll be posting progress pics as I go. If it ends up looking like something else, I'll angle it towards that faction/concept/texture.

I'll also be interested in dieselpunk concepts. Idea isn't to create a ship that looks 'too clean'. Analogue, not digital.

I wonder what an F14 canopy would look like on a freelancer ship...

After some sketching I've figured that a split-body with two big Rheinland reactor sections (like those on the back of the valk) -built into the wings- might work visually. Excited. As swallow demonstrated recently, there's not enough ships with holes in them.

Steadily building up a design that'll look vaguely shaped like a Y, when finished. Can't decide how to position the wings so it doesn't look like a generic product of the eagle line. Will think it over.

Unioner ships have jet intake-style inlets towards the middle of the craft. Decided I'd move it under the nose since I wasn't going with the Arbeiter/Solidaritat canopy design anyway. Ended up with basically an F16 fascia. I wonder what that'll look like with eagle wings.

I'd love to (good thematic contrast for fighting the Coalition), but I'd have to redesign the Unioner line, too (the alliance fighter has a patriot cockpit canopy).

I could use some elements from it, though....

Like the engines and the fins...

Slap some inverted delta wings on the rear right before then engines with downwards winglets at the edges.
Also, I'd put some canards in front.

It looks too much like a plane right now and I really hope you cut down on alot of the features of a normal plane

The entire ass will be very non-plane.

Probably the general shapeforming is good to think about. X02a Morgan and the GTB Medusa are my styleguides atm.
