Introduction:

Bacterial life-form, unique to Edge Nebula where it is extracted by various factions for commercial use in the Colonies for centuries. This species is able to survive in vacuum of space and form colonies on drifting asteroids rapidly metabolizing various chemical compounds in the crust. The results are vast unending alien landscapes of green asteroid belts. There is only one planet in Sirius where AO’s inhabit natively: Kurile. It is an oddity as far human habitable worlds: it possesses breathable atmosphere but its surface - completely covered in ocean - is toxic to any lifeform that isn’t AO bacterias. Two conflicting theories exist:

More commonly accepted by Sirius scientific commodity, that Kurile bathed in bacteria rich Kunashir cloud was terraformed into its current state and otherwise would have remained a sterile planet.
The competing position argues that AO had infected the world and over millions of years thwarted any native simple life forms and over time became the only life capable of surviving in poisonous ocean.

Application:

Main producers/exporters are Zoners, Cryer and GMG (as result of hostile takeover of Samura’s facilities on Kurile) mainly for use of House of Bretonia and Kusari. Within Kusari, Samura Corporation deploys bacteria to enrich Junyo’s oceans to increase yields of company’s fisheries. Introduction of an ample supply of AO’s incentivized growth of critical species within the food chain of the colony.

Effects and health risk

Many of the employees working the fish farms of Junyo have been complaining of fatigue caused by an unidentified ailment.
