Discovery 4.85 first public beta is online, and we join FLCN - Igiss - 03-08-2009

A brief update for the events that happened in the last few days.

First of all, Discovery Freelancer 4.85: Reunion first public beta is now online. You can get the beta and see the guides, tutorials, credits, and general discussions related to the update in the newly created Discovery 4.85 Transition forum. Make sure that you have read all documentation related to this release. While the serverside utilities prepared by Cannon allowed us to transfer the player database to the new version without a player wipe, and even without the need to re-buy ships that players previously owned, 4.85 is a very large update that exceeds anything that we've previously done before, and certain transition issues are to be expected. Also remember that the version that we presented is still a beta, not a final release. It is not yet recommended to use it for other Discovery servers, and we advise not to place the download on any 3rd party servers.

The public beta has already been installed on our official server, and you will need it to connect and continue playing.

We have also joined the Freelancer Community Network (FLCN) originating from The Starport portal. You can see the FLCN link bar on the top of our forum pages now. Community Network accomodates a lot of well-known (and not so well-known) Freelancer-related resources that you are free to browse.

Discovery will now become more openly involved with other Freelancer communities, like The Starport, Freelancer Community and others, regardless if they are part of FLCN nor not. I hereby ask all our members that come to other community forums never to participate in any flame wars, avoid unreasonable praising our mod or comparing it to others, and generally set an example of civilized behavour and constructive dialog. Thank you.
