Official Amendment to Faction ID Rules - Xoria - 03-10-2009

After a discussion lasting the past several weeks, the requirement of official factions to use only one ID have been officially changed. The following is the new guideline, and has been edited into the Faction Creation Rules located here : http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?ac...st=0#entry39866
Quote:ID Tag Rules
When a faction is created, the leader must select a primary ID that identifies the faction's primary role and identity. The Guard ID associated with the primary ID choice is assumed to be included as part of the primary ID choice.

Specialized IDs may be permitted for specific purposes that are subsets of the faction's role. For example, an Outcast faction should choose the Outcast ID as its primary ID, but might also allow the Slaver ID for some of its members' ships that engage in the slave trade. Likewise, a corporation might use the Researcher ID in addition to the normal corporation ID associated with the faction. Faction proposals and official faction posts must state the primary ID and specialized ID's used by the faction.

If their is no overlap between the primary ID's permitted ship choices and the specialized ID's permitted ship choices, then the specialized ID cannot be used by that faction.

Vessels with the specialized ID must behave according to that ID's permissions and restrictions, even if the permissions of the faction's primary ID are different. For example, a Slaver ID'd Outcast faction character can only pirate according to Slaver ID restrictions.

All ship and weapon choices are subject to the restrictions belonging to the faction's primary ID, NOT the specialized IDs. The specialized ID does NOT provide access to ships or weapons that are forbidden to the primary ID.

Vessels with the specialized ID must have the same IFF/Tag as they would have using the faction's primary ID. Factions should not choose another faction ID as a secondary ID, for example an Outcast faction should not choose the Lane Hacker ID as a secondary ID.

All relevant information should be contained in the faction creation proposal and any changes to existing faction operations should be submitted to the Administration for review prior to implementation. There is no definite limit on the number of specialized IDs that a faction may use, but all are subject to Administrative approval.

Having the primary faction ID or specialized ID is essential for all characters of the faction who reached level 40.

It is possible for any faction or any group to choose any ID that they like. Including even IDs that were already taken by system-owning factions, Mercenary ID and Freelancer ID. The latter two IDs are quite easy to get, so if the group does not want to be NPC-aligned, they are the proper choice.

However, not all IDs or NPC affiliation will grant your faction right to have the home system.
Existing official factions may use this thread to submit their proposals for adding specialized ID's to their official faction posts. All such changes are subject to Administrative review PRIOR to implementation. If you use common sense with your choices, the review will be simple and perfunctory. Don't go overboard. The point is to broaden your faction's roleplaying, but a specialized ID may not be necessary. For instance, if your primary ID permits trading, then a secondary trading ID is unnecessary.

Shadow Outcast Brigade & Blue Lotus Syndicate would like to apply for the following secondary ID tags:
Slaver
Smuggler

[BLS] Primary role is to smuggle cardamine and unlawful goods through out our operation areas so having the smuggler ID would make some sense, although we still can do such with our OC id, but would allow us a better role play structure.
[BLS] also being a primary cardi producer & requiring slaves to operate our refineries & fields, A slaver ID would also enhance our role play as we would be purchasing slave ships solely for that purpose.

Having both tags added as a secondary could greatly help me establish new roleplay & divisions for the Blue Lotus Syndicate & it's future endeavors.

RepEx will be using the Merc ID for it's escort wing. Actually it has been doing so for a while now.

Edit; as this is on day 8, and Xoria's post says that if nothing is heard by day 8 it's approved, I'm throwing a party.

LR would like our smugglers to be equipped with the smuggler ID, it would allow us much greaterrange, and allow us to trade with the Mollys, who are supposed to be our closest allies.

The Red Hessian Army will be equipping Smuggler IDs for all its transports, in order to allow trade and diplomatic missions to be conducted.

The IMG will be requesting a Special Operative ID for it's Flagship Carrier. That is, of course, unless our Guard ID allows us to fly it in the coming versions (See the ID issues thread for more details).

BAF requires use of

-BAF ID

-BAF Guard ID for Caps

-Bretonian Privateer ID for Privateers

-Bretonian Intelligence Service ID for the Intelligence Services, MI5

If I have not named the above ID's correctly, its because I don't have the list of new ID's in front of me.

I have a question more like...

The CR ID says we can use our own ships, but what of generic stuff like repair ships, miners, lifters etc?
