Natio Octavarium Press Release: Statement Regarding the Rheinland Situation

The Octavarium Cabinet has authorized the release of the following statement from the Ministry of Relations on behalf of the Government of Natio Octavarium:

The Ministry of Relations has surveyed the situation in Rheinland with regards to recent domestic political events. We believe it is important for all people, no matter creed or heritage, to participate openly in the election and direction of the entities that govern and support their daily lives. The attack on Rheinland's democratic institutions by the Imperial Party is therefore in our eyes completely against every moral point we stand for. In addition to this, it has been made clear to the people of Sirius that the Imperial Party is willing to align themselves against the will of the people in order to further their attempted takeover of the Rheinland state. This flagrant act of rejection of the democratic process is one clearly not intended to benefit the lives of the people of Rheinland in the slightest.

To this end, the Government of Natio Octavarium is hereby enacting the following policy changes and affirmations:

We fully denounce the Imperial Party's unlawful installation of a new government in Rheinland.
We support the Federal Republic of Rheinland and its lawfully-elected legislative assembly as the de jure institution of government in the Rheinland state.
We shall be revoking all implicit and explicit trade and transit visas for the supporters of the Imperialist insurgency, both corporate and otherwise, in Natio Octavarium space until such time that they return to supporting the Federal Republic.
We are committed to the well-being of those displaced by Imperialist attacks on citizens and residents of Rheinland and denounce the actions of the Imperialist insurgency that cause such displacement as crimes against international law.
We will be opening the Zwickau Memorial Residential Wing on Canberra Star City next week to provide safe and secure housing for evacuees seeking political asylum from the Imperialist insurgency, as well as to provide care for the critically injured and those who need advanced long-term medical care. None of the cost of any of these facilities will be borne by their occupants, and are provided as a humanitarian effort under the Ministry of Services.

Taskmaster-Adjutant and former Minister of Relations, Harold Kane, has the following additional message to the people of Rheinland:

"My first visit to Rheinland was through the Omega-7 gate. For someone who grew up in the Barrier, the warmth of Rheinland was undoubtedly reflected not only in its colours and its pride, but most strikingly in its people. Rheinlanders have faced countless hardships over the years, and through each of them, they grow stronger. You are a nation of resilient, hard-working people who fight for justice and who all mankind should aspire to be like. This Imperialist aggression is not just against the Federalists, or against the Bundestag, but against the values and institutions of the Rheinland nation. You have the strength and the indomitable will to survive, and when you are bathed in the light at the end of the tunnel, you will be standing once again on your own two feet, fist raised to the sky, in the Federal Republic of Rheinland."
