Revised Policy on POB IFF and Location Changes - jammi - 04-23-2020 The team has just published a new thread setting out the criteria for changes to the name, IFF and location for POBs. We have initially set these standards quite high, and are looking for feedback from the wider community on how everyone would collectively like to see these standards work. I know there has long been a desire from the community for a way to formally request these changes, and we'd like to thank everyone who has previously contributed ideas to the discussion and put forward potential solutions. We won't be retroactively applying charges to any currently pending requests falling within scope of the new policy, but future requests will be charged from this point forward. Please feel free to ask questions here and GMs will answer where possible. Quote:Game Masters will consider changes to a Player Owned Base (POB) IFF, name or location on a case by case basis. The requirements set out below describe the normal standards needed to be considered for a change. The team may at its own discretion waive these standards when appropriate. When determining whether a change should be approved, the team will have reference to the potential impact on the gameplay and roleplay of the surrounding area. RE: Revised Policy on POB IFF and Location Changes - Mephistoles - 04-23-2020 Bases have typically been moved in the past when subject to system development changes. For example, Iejima Station was built as a helium-3 ore base in Okinawa, but the developers moved the field to Sigma-19. Iejima was then moved accordingly, free of charge. The same happened when the mining field moved from Sigma-19 to Sigma-59. My feedback would be that bases being moved for the same reason - system changes outside of the owner's control - should still be made without charge. If the move request is being submitted [...] due to significant changes to the current location's lore or system design, this fee may be waived at the team's discretion." If a change is being requested because of a major system update that would previously have warranted a move, we'd still waive the fee. RE: Revised Policy on POB IFF and Location Changes - St.Denis - 04-23-2020 I have no Weapon Platforms, nor do I have an intention of moving at any time in the near future, but why won't you move WPs? Mostly it's to allow the incumbents of the new location a fair crack at responding to the new base. It isn't exactly desirable for a nigh invulnerable fortress of doom to be built up in one area, and then dropped into another as a kind of fait accompli that no-one else can do much about. RE: Revised Policy on POB IFF and Location Changes - Hokan - 04-23-2020 Why does the cost scale? Is this another cash requirement for an audience, or is it payment for services? Are the GMs taking the money based on the amount of work they need to do, to move the PoB or change the name? Do you need to add a cash requirement? Can it work without one? RE: Revised Policy on POB IFF and Location Changes - St.Denis - 04-23-2020 (04-23-2020, 08:11 PM)The Only Hokan Wrote: Why does the cost scale? Base name changes, up to now have been free (they could be requested once every 6 months). It is a Team decision to put a price on the required changes and, I suppose, it makes people stop and think before doing something. The work for any of the 3 changes takes roughly the same time. RE: Revised Policy on POB IFF and Location Changes - Hokan - 04-23-2020 It seems like EA might be taking over the GMs if they start putting a price tag on what was once, free. RE: Revised Policy on POB IFF and Location Changes - E X O D I T E - 04-23-2020 Forgive my ignorance, but what happens to ships already docked upon a POB being moved between systems? RE: Revised Policy on POB IFF and Location Changes - Lythrilux - 04-23-2020 I think the costs are a bit too high but I like that this is now an option for people. |
