Ok, eventually I will be making a special request, however at this time, that is closed and certain details need working out.

Basically the story will be about a Rheinland gunboat which was captured by the LN but is now stuck in Rheinland space. In order to survive (and help the LN) the crew will be forced to use this gunboat to raid rheinlander trade ship for supplies.


That is where the problem arises as there is no viable ID that can be used. I thought once 4.85 came out there would be a Privateer ID, but apparently it is only for the Bretonian Privateers, so thats useless.

I need something that could be tied to a LN or military tag, but allow pirating cargo. Could a pirate ID work?

This is something I've been planning for awhile and just begun to write up in story form. I plan to set up an event or two in game when/if it is allowed to show the ship being captured.

Also while on topic, anyone have a thought why such a ship could get stranded in Rheinland and not be able to go home? the biggest thing I can think of is the battle lines, but perhaps a damaged jumpdrive?

Cause, special requests are closed atm... I did mention I will be doing that once it reopens (I made a request before the admins closed it down and it never got through in time)

Anyways, the point of posting here, is maybe someone actually knows what kind of ID is possible to do this with.

And it can be done... the bretonians have privateers... (they even got their own ID for it, though why not make a generic privateer license is beyond me..)

I guess if that were the case, then any "pirating" would be on a purely RP basis and only if the trader agrees to it.

one "pirating" incident with a Republican shipper or one who talks to the RM and your cover is gone and you become a "Shoot first, ask questions later" target.

That being said, I read your special request and after I got past my initial "gah, not another "i stole it"" reaction it was -decent-. Idk, talk to Virus about making sure this is ok with him, as you are essentially powerplaying with "his" ships.

Yeah I want to get as much info as I can, to make the request the most streamlined. The one I made before I admit was rushed and not terribly good.

As for the ship itself, it wont simply "appear". I do plan to create it, and fly it as it is under Rheinland control until such events occur. I always did plan to ask the RM first, just wanted to clear up things before I did.

How could you Pirate with it? You would have no bases to work out of. If you did have the bases to work from and travel to, you could just as easily escape rhein as traveling to them.

Well, before 4.85 (Yes, there was a before 4.85) The bretonian privateers used a BAF tag with a pirate ID, I assume that if your request goes through, you could do the same. One thing though: If your gunboat is destroyed, you're not exactly going to be on best terms with the RM any more and it may be difficult for your crew to steal another one. What happens then in RP logically?
