Direktor Enfield,

I am Walter Kappmann, and I am contacting you on matters of the defence of what remains of our nation and its ideals of democracy and personal freedom. You may never have heard of me before, but I sure have heard of you. Your name holds a big weight amongst those who still stand by the Republic.

Once I worked for the ministry of defence, but following the turmoil of the imperial coup and with the disarray the remnants of our government are in, such is no more. In its place, I have taken upon the task to oversee the reorganisation of Rheinwehr stragglers still loyal to the cause into a workeable formation that deserves the descriptor "military unit" more than the scattered and decentralised resitance we have seen in the early days of this calamity. I cannot say it has been greatly sucessful; with great parts of the Rheinwehr on the Imperials' payroll not many stood by our side, even less managed to escape custody or destruction.

But not all has been hopeless. By now, stragglers from different battlegroups, including one cruiser and one battlecruiser, have pledged their allegiance to this provisional force, and despite the unfortunate loss of control over Planet Stuttgart, I have not given up on helping paramilitary elements both on the planet and around the system organise their resistance. Trying to get back in contact with the Karlsruhe is another endeavour in the same vein, although couriers I have sent out to determine its position and status have not gotten back to me yet.

Looking at your former feats, your involvement in protecting the essence of our Republic during this coup, and the need to stand together in these dire times I will seek to have my units stay in close cooperation with yours, and provide the bureau with everything we can offer to work towards our common goals. We are indeed in a dire situation, and the future of our house is uncertain. But, Direktor Enfield, should you call:
