Should we have a rep-lowering tool? - William Frederick Cody - 03-18-2009 I posted this http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?s=...st&p=525867 few days ago, and a nice dicussion started. Long pages, short version: Pro: No more oorp rep-fixing. Easier, to loose a tag or a "green" rep, if necessary. Contra: We will see all players with guard IFF (It becomes easier, to get the guard IFF, because you can bribe, lower bribe, lower etc.) Vote! Thank you. The 'lulwutters' will always get their fancy ship if they want it, even if it takes hours to get the ID for it. So the abuse question is irrelevent really. This will mean less time doing OORP rep-fixing and char setting up and more time actually...wait for it..playing the game!:shok: Should we have a rep-lowering tool? - Thexare - 03-18-2009 ' Wrote:Guard IFFs, why is it bad for more people to have them? The only issue I have with them is that they make people look hostile who shouldn't be - for example, Rogue Guards to my Outcast, Navy Guards to my LSF pilot, and Zoner Guards to any humans. But this wouldn't affect getting the Guard ID either way... Being patient enough to take wise steps before messing up with your reputation is another story. For a Freelancer that is, however we aren't a bunch of freelancers running around like the origenal game developers intended, we are playing as NPCs now. That and there are a few errors that are unavoidable, like RM being friendly to Corsairs or a BH being friendly to Outcasts because he spends most of his time in Corsair space. Should we have a rep-lowering tool? - Othman - 03-18-2009 I don't think so. That is valid for everyone. And we are playing as PCs which is why we are responsible of our own reputation and supposed to be different than NPCs in a fashion. The bugs are an another issue though as they happen to exist in a limited array of some sort. I think a solution needs to be found for those specific cases without the need to distribute a reputation hacker just like the one admins have authorization to use. Should we have a rep-lowering tool? - Baltar - 03-18-2009 Reps need to be earned or payed for ... in game ... not with some hack tool. Should we have a rep-lowering tool? - Carbon Unit 02 - 03-18-2009 OORP-fixing sucks, ok maybe not if you have a fighter-oriented char. Today I wasted more than four hours in an attempt to get my Zoner ID (I don't feel the need of a "guard" character, now). I currently play a trader, which means "bribe somebody on a station and kill someone out there" if I want a faction change. I really had a good plan, I bribed Xenos to get LPI low, and shot a Rogue and got my faction change. Due to previous corruption of others I turned out as Corsair in the middle of Texas ("broken ID"(lolwut?!)). I bribed GMG, Hessians and at last BMM (I would have turned out as IMG then). Of course Zoners, too. The worst thing about it in my eyes is that after I bribed BMM there was no bretonian faction blocking my Zoner ID, it was LPI and LSF (Liberty is bretonian in some way, I mean, somehow, wait *WHAT?!*...) It would be cool if there was some kind of a "one shot" command where people can choose to boost some more love to a specific relationship, boosting more hate to the enemies. I don't want to go on forever like this, I want to play the game. Should we have a rep-lowering tool? - TDLdark - 03-19-2009 Basic Repfixing...not a problem. Getting guard IFF? Now there comes a problem. Sure, rep-fixing may teach RP, but it's very OORP itself. For instance, to get my LN guard tagged, I had to go to Kusari, Rheinland, and Bretonian. And it's rather OORP for my fighter to waltz into Rheinland and land on random bases. (even though I did ask permission first.) @Baltar + Kress: Freelancer is a game. A game is defined as "an amusement or pastime." Going around dropping missions all around Sirius is not fun for most people. Freelancer is a game, not a job, it should be fun. Everything is inferior to that simple fact. Why should I spend hours meticulously planning and executing a complicated plan to get a guard IFF? If I wanted to do that I would just go to work. At least I would be getting paid. |
