BS without thrusters - Zork - 03-19-2009 threatname says all why BS's have no thrusters i mean, every stupid miniship has energy for thusters and a big BS with an giant powercore dont have one... come one guys its unrealistic it drives me crazy to creep around with my BS... just change it on 4.85 full BS without thrusters - Benjamin - 03-19-2009 I think it is a fairly important design call to leave them off. BS without thrusters - William Frederick Cody - 03-19-2009 BSs have too much mass, so the cant whooped up speed for a short time. Cruisers and other fat ships shouldnt have a thruster, too. Just my 0.02$ Edit: Gunboats should have BS without thrusters - stewcool - 03-19-2009 I would think if a BS were to have thrusters it would need two of them. In order to have enough propulsion to even give it that boost. BS without thrusters - swift - 03-19-2009 If a battleship had thrusters it would become near-invincible against bombers, because it could dodge any and all SNs, and if a bomber got close enough to hit it'd die. BS without thrusters - Eppy - 03-19-2009 It's partially balance issues and partially logic issues. Battleships' speed is one of their biggest weaknesses; they can't catch other, smaller ships, and that's the point-if they could move as fast as a Cruiser they could chase them down and frag them, and that's the job of a Battlecruiser. I would like to see a double thruster on the Battleship, one that only increases the speed by about five m/s. This would allow Battleships to make use of Engine Kill, which would allow some interesting maneuvers that aren't possible with Battleships now, but I think that's for a different version, if at all. Valid point Swift but what if the thrusters didn't give them that much more speed as the normal ones. Just a little more than normal? That way they do have a little more speed but they lack the ability to maneuver. BS without thrusters - Weedalot - 03-19-2009 *facepalm* so they couldn't chase light fighters. and logically thinking you know how much power you would need to get a HUGE ship like that to work that thruster BS without thrusters - stewcool - 03-19-2009 Hence why I said 2 thrusters....maybe 4. Battlecruisers don't have afterburn either. They move at 90 top speed. I know, cause I fly one of the IMG ones. And well, for the sake of e-kill I'd not mind bships having thrusters, if it didn't give them too big a speed advantage.. Not more than 100m |
