Err... is it just me or is it a tiny bit over the top? It goes, BOOOOM, and you lose about, 1 bar of your shield on a gunboat... it looks like it should do a -lot- more damage than it does, I don't think it even downs VHF shields in one hit, I've tried it on NPCs and, it doesn't always.

The explosiony thing looks pretty and all, but it just doesn't fit. Nothing wrong with the thing other than the effect looking a over the top. Can it either have the effect replaced or the gun re-done so it does more damage?

Yeh it is a bit over board....than you have the razor which also looks
massive but does a small explosion.

Or the other turrets the larger ships use that look like they will cause
some damage but then don't do so much.

looks to me like the light mortar explosion was accidentaly put on the gunboat pulse guns... I didnt notice this in 4.85 beta 3, so it must be a new issue.

Nope... it was like that in Beta 3 aswell, I just only now got around to making a thread about it... And, to me, that doesn't look too Mortary ( if that's the word)... you sure that's the Mortar effect?

pulse cannon impact = gas bag explosion like in sigma-13

light mortar impact = fighter explosion ( fireball with a white shockwave )

heavy mortar impact = something very large, very colourful

yes, the pulse cannon effect is large. - but the description says that it "engulfs" the whole shield bubble of the ship and drains it that way. - the mortar is "just" a small antimatter charge that explodes.

i think missile ( capital class missiles ) should have a bigger explosion when they hit - but all in all, i m happy with it. - its good to see an effect when hitting... gives a satisfying feedback.

and then on the opposite end of the awesomeness spectrum, we have battle razors, which do nothing but go "poof" when they hit the target, despite the ridiculously large projectile...

If it's 'sposed to be engulfing the whole shield, then it needs to be even bigger... the explosion would also change size depending on what you hit? Leaves a fair few holes that'd easily be avoided by just making it a normal shield buster... more than likely that shield strength would be diverted to where it's weakest automatically anyway.

Make it last less time instead then? It'd fade out quickly if the effect spreads all over the ship.

Yeah, I agree, we want a big blasty effect for razors (including the mini please)

Quite honestly, who cares? Effects are nice to have, even if it isn't in prime technologically realistic order.

With all the other important things around that need fixing, and the complaining to go with, this is really quite inconsequential.

This is why we can't have nice things. :P
