Hi there all. Hope I don't make a fool of my self. I just started my smuggling character on the server and I've realized what an exhilaration it is your first time! Yes, I am a smuggy newbie.
So this thread is dedicated to the people who smuggle as their main way of income. Everything is open to discussion. Your favorite route, ship, but more importantly the stories. I want to hear about you best get-aways and the worst bust you have ever had. I think it would be quite amusing.
So please feel free, and I do encourage you, to post here.
Police/Navy if you have a story of an epic bust, feel free to post it here as-well.

There was an Artifact Smuggler that I chased in my LF all the way from Alaska to Manhattan...
I was out of TCD's he was out of B/B's and had little to no hull left...
We where 1 Kilometer away from the mooring fixture heading to Manhattan from West Point...
And out of sheer luck a Battleship Undocked at that moment, knocked him into the Planet.
I sat there with my mouth wide-open for the space of an hour.

well, smuggling's my main source of income, my daumann trader's now basicly for RP (how un-usual)
i do a fair bit o' RP in my smuggling BW transport, i'm the leader of an un-official circle of smugglers, most unusual that we smuggle cola, Cardi-Cola. my smugglers' a former slave who survived the orange razor-death using a suit made of all the rubbish he could find, he now lives reletively comfortable, thinking back to what his life would have been operating cobalt-purification waste management systems while earning barely anything.
it's fun to RP this 'new distributon method' like , its like trying to avoid asteroid fields coz' the little rocks bouncing on the hull shakes up the cola
My only bust was when a fellow who barely spoke english recomended a route, in whitch i got busted, i got fined 4 mil by a gunboat and had to leave librety.
(should i name my 'muggler in my sig or will people track me in the chat menu, that's my biggest fear)

I actually have only had this happen once, and that was with a Das Wilde gunboat and almost invited. I don't really try to avoid being spotted, it just never happens.
Either I'm that elusive or people always have bigger fish to fry.

My smugglers only been "caught" once..... in... 6 months? maybe more?
He's a regular good 'ol boy but he aint workin' alone. Most of the time.....
He also has morals, he'll never carry slaves or dejected human cargo..... there is another cargo he wont carry either cos if he was caught carrying it the "family" would be quite mad.
Thats all i can say, these forums have ears, and eyes.

Does your man spank the fluffy monkeys? Just out of curiosity. When you are caught spanking the fluffies you'll make Gaians your "friend" for life.
I think smuggling became easier now that only cops can do something about it.

I highly frown upon using the chat list to do this (especially as I have a smuggler :lol:). It is essentially metagaming, which is bad.
My smuggler only got caught once, and that was by a Liberty GB that apparently lagged out when I tried to surrender, and killed me (kinda annoying, but, meh).
The key to successful smuggling is to never use gates/lanes, and always make sure the local pirates will be ok with what you're carrying...or come up with a plausible story to convince them to be ok with what you're carrying ("Yes, Mr Hessian, these engine components are definetly going to Vogtland, wouldn't dream of taking them to Tripoli, of course not...").
Oh, and never ever try to land on a lawful base while carrying illegal goods. You are liable to get caught.

Back whent he [LN] were the primary law-enforcement agency for Liberty (i.e. before November), i would be on drug interdiction patrols every day, in my [LN] bomber. I managed to either confiscate, destroy, or otherwise stop more than 2 billion credits worth of contraband items in a month. I even caught the same guy (weedalot) 5 times in one day. He lived the first time, because he paid and dropped cargo, but then i caught him 4 more times, and he promptly ran each time, so i shoved a SN at his Whale, each time.
Was great fun, back in the day. I used to keep a tab of exactly how much contraband i've stopped, but the numbers are so rediculously high, i stopped counting.
Basically, don't get caught. Because if you screw around and try to either wait me out, continue to move after i pull you over, or try to dock, i -will- blow you up without a second thought. When you do get caught, please, don't screw around and get the stop over with.
Most lawfuls/pirates do -not- want a stop to last longer than 2 minutes, tops. More than 3 minutes, and i start to get a really ithcy trigger finger, due to the number of people who i've had F1 on me, in the past.

I get more than half my money from smuggling and find it much more fun than legit trading, but I've never been caught so I don't really know why. I'm not doing any big chases or anything. As for routes, well, everyone's got their own eh?
