Something bugging me - rayne - 03-25-2009 I am doing my best to role play and was wondering... If someone turns up to where you are and they are an enemy of yours, does "engaging" qualify as enough to instigate a pvp encounter? Had this happen to me a few times... Something bugging me - Linkus - 03-25-2009 No, but most do it anyway. If it causes you undue annoyance or problems, report em. If it doesn't cause many issues, you can still report them but what's the point? If they give you plenty of notice you are fine really. So basically, it is not acceptable notice of an intent to attack, since it really is just 1 word and not a great RP justification, though often there isn't time for one. Something bugging me - rayne - 03-25-2009 they usually say engaging when im mid sentance on my rp work, by the time i realise whats going on i have to use almost all bots and batts just to survive. I would report them but i dont want to be taking screenshots at every single encounter Something bugging me - Marburg - 03-25-2009 On occasion I'll sign on & fly around my Bretonian stomping grounds & find an enemy to RP with...more than 1/2 of those times it turns out to be more RP than PvP because I don't look for the fight & force the issue. For example, While I was going Gaian one day, a bounty hunter came to collect his pay on me (as all Gaians have a standing bounty) We traded bolts for a while & RP'ed it out, turning a basic fight into a really cool 'bite me' sort of truce. My point is, engaging an enemy doesn't have to relegated to a simple PvP encounter as long as both players have RP in mind. (which is the entire point of what we do here) Something bugging me - rayne - 03-25-2009 Thats my take on things too, my best recent RP encounter was with XA-Sunbeam, we have run into each other 3 times and only fought the once Something bugging me - Xing - 03-25-2009 You will most probably never get to fight me unless you begin taking evasive manoeuvers, fighting flight pattern or firing or yelling battlecry. Or unless I'm in the mood to kill myself... which is pretty rare... I much prefer roleplay. Something bugging me - Nightmouse - 03-26-2009 Even my Xeno rarely gets in fights (twice yesterday afternoon, only one resulted in a blue message). If I had to fight every time I'd encounter an enemy, my guns would explode In other words: ENGANGING ENGANGING ENGANGING (according to most, it's spelled that way) isn't always the best solution Something bugging me - jshkornmiller - 03-26-2009 well, i just entered illinios with my outcast cannibal gunship and spammed the system with, "fresh meat"and quickly left back to colorado after noticing a lpi gunboat and two libbies, but then i somehow rped my way out of being toasted by three angry LPI officers. there are a lot of us that are more in for RP then pvp, those three could of easily "pwned" me but with a nice ten minute RP chat we all left without any bruises. but i feel for you when you say that. i have been victim to many engagements when i flew for the LPI. i remember when a bunch of lolwutters exited the Trade lane from westpoint to new york, i typed up my message and then i saw "enganbg!" and then i went poof! i reported but i don't know if anything ever came from it,[whispers] Xoria doesn't like me[/whispers] . So i know the anger you must get from them and their lack of communication and lack of good roleplaying. Something bugging me - JakeSG - 03-26-2009 People are scum. Always watch your back. Suspect everyone. Seriously, I've idled by fights before where the odds were already stacked unfairly against the other team, and they've seen me as a stationary target and tried to insta me as an easy kill. The depths some people will descend to is revolting. Something bugging me - Rudo - 03-26-2009 ' Wrote:People are scum. Always watch your back. Suspect everyone. The depths some people will descend to is revolting. I've done this. It's usually because I suspect the stationary audience member is passing regens to the parties in combat. In the case of some Corsairs, it's often sneaky Del Cid fire as well. |
