Mercenaries in Gunboats? - dudeicoft - 03-25-2009
During 4.84 I remember that the IMG gunship, and sometimes the Orca, were the gunships of choice for the freelancing mercenary. However in 4.85 it is very clear that these ships now belong to their sponsoring faction... in fact I have yet to see any gunship that is not.
The question I have: Is there a gunship that mercenaries can actually use? If so, feel free to slap me across the head for bringing up a stupid point. If not, perhaps an Idea for the final 4.85?
P.S. - this idea popped into my head when I saw "gunship" attached to the Mercenary ID, along with everything smaller than a cruiser.

Back in the 4.84 days, I had a merc ID on a Rheinland Gunboat. Stunned the hell out of some outcasts...:laugh:
Edit: I don't know about the new versions though... (I have long since sold that GB)

Well, you can use the Zoner Gunboat, that's for sure. I've never flown a gunboat though, so I'm not a specialist. But I'd go with that one.

There's also the Kusari Explorer, though that obviously won't work if you work in Bretonia.
The local neighborhood pirates (Outcasts, Corsairs, Rogues/Mollys, Red Hessians) may be willing to sell them, but I advise asking in Diplomatic Matters before getting the ship.
Anything else I'm sure you could earn - work for the Liberty Navy for a while, for example, and they might sell you a Gunship to help them with the Rheinland war.
