Flak Turrets - NonSequitor - 03-26-2009 The flak turrets got a range increase in the latest update - I think around 1k. I went out last night to test them in Kappa and Omicron Delta. I noticed that the flak turret projectiles exploded a few meters from my ship, basically on my ship, whenever I fired them in a nebulous cloud. When I fired the flaks in an field full of those pointy ice crystals (no gas clouds present), I got the same result most of the time (about 8 times out of 10). The salvos were not hitting a nearby chunk of ice. At least I was aiming between objects. An occasional salvo would reach the 1k mark. The new flak turrets seem to be pretty effective, save this problem. If I ever get attacked in a gas cloud / asteroid field, the flak turrets' effectiveness is thoroughly compromised. Flak Turrets - SevereTrinity - 03-26-2009 It'll have to stay like that, else we'd need to nerf flaks, and then people would moan about that, because you're not hitting. this is the best we could come up with, and unless you either A) Have the source code or B) Know of a better way to make flaks work, you'll have to deal with it. Flak Turrets - mjolnir - 03-26-2009 It was always like this, you just haven't noticed before since "you knew they suck" I guess. They have large "sensitivity" are so that they explode even far from the target if they didn't had it you'd never be able to damage anything that's not sitting still. This causes them to explode when "hitting" random objects in the path yes. Flak Turrets - NonSequitor - 03-26-2009 @Bad.Wolf: I had to pick up Zoner flak turrets at FP11. Bounty Hunters don't have a factional flak turret, so the Zoner version is a good rp choice. The BH battlecruiser (the only one I'm familiar with) has 2 BS turret hardpoints, so you could mount flak turrets on those hardpoints. Flak turrets were designed for battleships, so you'll have to take into account energy drain. 2 flaks consume a fair amount of energy. You don't have to believe or understand gravity for it to influence you... Thus flaks blow up very easily at the first sign of disturbance in their blow out range...
