Teacher,

I traveled to Coronado, as per your request, to investigate the reports sent your way by [ READ ERROR ] and can now verify them. Libertonian, Bretonian, and Crayterian forces seem to be engaged in extended conflict with the Auxesian Technocracy and their Libertonian allies. Not only that, but K'haran forms are indeed present in the system - specifically, those of the Vagrant hive. The form I encountered appeared to be merely observing, jumping away each time I attempted to intercept it. Perhaps, Teacher, a lighter craft would have been more suited for this job.

I also came into contact with the Xeno Alliance, its leader, Cobra, specifically. He seemed to take some interest in me and wanted to have a proper conversation aboard Barrier Gate Station, but I decided it to be most prudent to reject the offer.

[ READ ERROR ] mentioned that he had come across several unmarked vessels carrying equipment of likely K'haran origin traveling through Coronado, heading most likely towards Bretonia and / or Liberty. I will return to the latter and see what I can find there.

Teacher,

Coming to Liberty was the right choice.

I had just embarked on my flight to Kusari when I passed through Manhattan's orbit. There I was greeted by Marshals Director Isla Nazumaki and former Core Guildmistress Tricia Reyes. The former was suffering from a telepathic assault by a K'haran Nammu-type mindnode. Reyes pointed me in its last seen direction and I set out to pursue, but was unable to trace it through the Jersey Debris Field. I fear it escaped through the local anomaly into the Colorado system. I returned at once to Manhattan to check on the victim. When I arrived, she had recovered from unconsciousness and was being guided through basic recovery by Reyes. I guess the former Guildmistress' experience came in handy.

We both advised Nazumaki to undergo an immediate medical checkup, to which she acquiesced. According to Reyes, it is likely that the K'hara will take an increased interest in Nazumaki following this (hopefully) failed attempt to infect her. I await your advice on the matter.

Matters were, however, complicated when a recon ship of the Order, the CV-Shezmu, was decloaked a mere three kay outside of Manhattan's defense grid. It was immediately pursued by a navy battleship and a police dreadnought, as well as by Reyes and several other small vessels. I attempted to diffuse the situation but was paid no heed. The Xeno commander, Cobra, tried the same, with equally little success. In the end, the Libertonian ships opened fire but were unable to get in effective range once within the Jersey Debris Field. I was forced to interfere with the pursuit. Luckily, I was able to convince the lawfuls not to punish me in anyway, but I will have to act more carefully from now on. Reyes, in particular, seems to be suspicious of me.

I will remain in Liberty for the time being and await further instructions. Until then, Nazumaki will be my primary target.

Addendum:
Director Nazumaki was surprisingly forthcoming regarding a number of questions I had about the incident.

Teacher,

I encountered the K'haran form that attacked Director Nazumaki today. It was in the process of telepathically assaulting former Guildmistress Reyes when I entered Manhattan's orbit. Luckily, a combined effort by us, a freelancer, the Xenos' Cobra, and a Navy gunship were able to destroy its physical form. There were no remains to be found. As for Reyes, she seemed to take the assault quite well, likely due to her training, which I assume was similar to what you taught me.

We were soon joined by Director Nazumaki, who assured me that she had recovered completely from yesterday's attack. The following several hours of observation confirmed the claim.

The freelancer was the man you told me about, John Silverstone. He is an interesting character. I have very strong suspicions that he is either infected or at least deeply indoctrinated by the K'hara. The attached logs will explain why. He mentioned having been to the Shrine - something I found hard to believe, considering he was somewhere other than the Shrine. But with everything else he spoke of, it may not be impossible after all. He also insisted that no one should enter the Kansas system, and that anyone who does would be deemed hostile by him. I await your instructions on that matter.

Silverstone and Reyes seem to know each other quite well - surprising, considering the fact that they once served the Order and the Core respectively. Despite both of them openly suspecting me of spying for the Order or some other suspect third party, they openly spoke of sensitive subject matter in my presence, all of which I, of course, recorded. See below. I don't know what it is about Liberty, but it seems to loosen people's lips considerably. Not that I mind. Nonetheless, I will have to act carefully. Too much suspicion, even if falsely placed, will only endanger my work here.

Teacher,

I encountered a member of the Temporary Autonomous Zoners recently and - with matters in Liberty having been quiet lately - decided to visit their home system of Baffin. I needed to update my star charts of the region anyway. There I had a rather peculiar encounter, even by Discordian standards.

Near the twin planets of Hodge and Podge, I came across Sagume, a fully synthetisized human female, in the company of three additional vessels. Initially, my scanners identified one of the ships as a K'haran form, painting it as a high priority target. Upon closer inspection and verbal identification by the pilot, however, it turned out to be a human ship, surplus military, by my guess. Sagume introduced the strangers as mercenaries she had hired as escorts while she studied the spaceborne bacteria known as scrubbies that are native to the Baffin system.

Striking up conversation with the mercenaries, I went ahead and ran more detailed scans of their ships. They picked up an odd reading from the falsely identified ship - an unusual power signature that didn't match any human-made source in the databanks. It may be the source of the misidentification - or evidence that my scanners weren't wrong after all. I suggest keeping an eye out for that ship - callsign Vagrant Thraike.

The mercenaries are a company, the Fae, after ancient mythological creatures. I will await your instructions concerning this matter.

Teacher,

As you requested, I searched the Texas dark matter clouds for anomalies that might be of interest to you. I came upon one such in the northern cloud, the Pequena Negra. Probing indicated that it indeed leads to the Kansas system. However, Teacher, I would advise against using it. Its location alone would pose too great a risk to the Ark and its contents, not to mention yourself. If the radiation doesn't fry you, the zero-visibility and debris will cut you to ribbons.

I heard that there may be another anomaly leading to Kansas in the Pennsylvania system. I will head there immediately and attempt to find the connection.
