Post Apocolyptic - stewcool - 04-01-2009 --Present-- --DATE: 12/24/2013-- *Bzzzzt Bzzzzt Bzzzzzt* The phone vibrated on the metal weapons crate next to the bed. Not answering it, the night before was far to exhausting to do so. The vibrating finally seized. Three pounding noises went off almost instantaneously after the phone stopped. I leaned over to press a button on the console mounted on the wall. A green light came on "Yeh?" "Dude get up! We got some action going on at first street in Charley Sector." "Erm what kind of action?" "Raider kind. They have a convoy and they are loading stuff into it." *Sigh* "A convoy huh, alright give me a min." "Hurry up dude we don't know how long they'll be there for, they've already been loading for 30 minutes now." "30 minutes! Why didn't you tell me sooner?!" "I tried man you were sleeping." I looked at my phone, 11 missed calls. Man I was out of it. Rushing my boots on and getting my urban camo armor on I stumbled passed a few crates to get to the door. This place I call home might as well have been called an armory. I had an arsenal of toys sitting all around my house. Though it didn't help my cause that my house was actually a bunker that was covered in rubble with only the once entrance in and out visible. Walking to the door, I grabbed the automatic rifle and sniper rifle and punched in a code to open the reinforced door to my house. The door was large enough to let a small vehicle enter it. A bunker garage pretty much. A man in the same type of uniform as mine was standing on the other side inpatient like. This man was my partner in crime. My buddy from the start of this entire thing, and well before. We did everything as a team and many people hated us for how good we were. "Bout time man lets go." I nodded at him, closed the door than put on my helmet and we walked toward our vehicle. An armored recon truck that can take one hell of a beating. He threw me the keys because lord knows he can't drive. It's always an accomplishment to see him even make to my place. Our "recon" truck looked more like a well modified civilian vehicle but that's pretty much our budget. Modified vehicles. Military vehicles never did cut it for us. Entering the truck we started to head toward the objective. "So what is it today, Travis?" "Raiders in upwards of about 50 word has it that they are still there. Whatever there loading they want to make sure it makes it to where it needs to go." "Why's that?" "They brought mechs along for the ride." "Mechs? Really now. This should be one beautiful day of destruction." Travis and I were the enforcers of what law was left on this abandoned planet. The group we worked for called ourselves the Terran Brotherhood. The way we act I would figure we were more like pirates. "What do you think they are loading Stewart?" "If they brought mechs? I would guess they are loading weapons or explosives. Either way we're going to take it." Travis chuckled a bit as our truck launched over a pile of debris heading toward 1st; Charley. -------------------- http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35514 FEEDBACK THREAD FOR THIS STORY AT THE ABOVE LOCATION Post Apocolyptic - stewcool - 04-02-2009 --1 Year Before-- --DATE: 12/20/2012-- Late December 20, 2012 - The economy of the United States was still reconstructing after one of the largest recessions to date in US history. The presidents unorthodox way of doing things was actually working in favor of the US and the world at large. New York was sleeping at 11:30PM On the other side of the world N. Korea has, over the passed couple of years, successfully launched several satellites into space. Using this new achievement to their advantage under the cover of a hidden underground base N. Korea prepares to launch 20 nuclear warheads. There targets were scattered throughout the world. Some of these targets include New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Moscow, Berlin, Paris, and even Hong Kong. Sirens went off as North Korean Soldiers prepared for the life to come. As every warhead was ready to launch. At exactly 00:00 New York time. All the missiles launched. Air raid alarms started to blare throughout the world. In a desperate retaliation to the sudden launch of warheads Japan, Russia, and the United States tried to launch counter measures against the missiles. The the counters were unsuccessful. Five of the 20 warheads made South Korea devoid of life. Landing in all major areas of South Korea. As North Korean forces advance into the parts of South Korea not affected by radiation. The rest of the missiles streamed across the globe annihilating every target they were ment to hit. Before impact however the US in the largest counter attack to date launched 25 warheads at every location known to North Korea. New York, Washing DC, and Los Angeles were now in ruins as the warheads leveled the area of impact and anything within 100 miles of that. Same affect for every other target that the North Koreans picked. December 21, 2012 was the day of the attack The day North Korea proved to the world that it was a force not to be disturbed. Though when it disturbed three Super Powers it was shown no mercy and the entire North Korean Country was wiped off the face of the Earth. The sudden attack started to cause severe martial law throughout the world as terrorist organization started to invade Russia Germany and the United States. United States forces were still over seas making the United States defenseless against large scale invasions from multiple organizations and countries trying to claim land. The targets of the North Korean Missiles are listed here: 1: New York, New York 2: Washing DC 3: Seattle, Washington 4: Los Angeles, California 5: Quebec, Canada 6: Hong Kong, Japan 7: Paris, France 8: Berlin, Germany 9: Russian Federation Moscow 10: London, UK 11: Sydney, Australia 12: Stockholm, Sweden 13: Amsterdam, The Netherlands 14: Vancouver, Canada 15-20: South Korea Post Apocolyptic - stewcool - 04-02-2009 --DATE: 6/11/2013-- Surprisingly the radiation from the day of destruction became safe only 2 months ago. People can go into the zones but must wear protective gear if you are to be in the zones for more than a hour. It has been noted that one hour is the bare minimum if you don't have protection. After that hour you will eventually gain the effect of radiation poisoning and eventually you will die. The world was torn to shreds that day. Mankind as we know it became savages. Crime was on a complete uproar for well over the three before. Than out of the blue a civilized group of people was formed. Calling themselves the Terran Brotherhood. These people were the protectors of mankind. The people who were going to get the world back on it's feat. That was the goal of it at least. The Brotherhood gave the people who were considered to be doing criminal acts the name of raiders and that is what we all went by. The only new invention that came out of all this was something called a mech. This machines were piloted bipedal destructive things. Capable of going into the infected radiation zones without a problem. So they too can enforce law in any area. The world was still in chaos from all of this even with the Terran Brotherhood working hard to maintain order. War was going on everywhere. The US goverment collapsed within the month and the US came under command of the Brotherhood. A group of people who had nothing to do with the goverment. Just trying to bring peace. Under this new power the Brotherhood declared new law. Making certain states into "Safe Zones" where people who wanted to get away from war would go. These safe zones were fortified and well vegetated. Arizona went from a desert to a tropical rain forest in only a month as one of the main safe zones. San Diego became the HQ of the Brotherhood. Though still in little numbers the Brotherhood only occupied one of the counties of San Diego, being El Cajon. This is where the civilized people of mankind will start to expand and rebuilt. Post Apocolyptic - stewcool - 04-02-2009 --DATE: 9/11/2013-- Most old major cities were now devoid of life as people moved to the safe zones in massive numbers. Every now and then jets would drop bombs in random areas of cities. No one really knew whos side the jets were on. They were all rogue jets really. Stolen from the military bases in all the confusion that was going on in the year. Raiders made their homes in the abandon cities. Finding the criminal life far more amusing than the safe zones. This is what kept the Terran Brotherhood busy. The removal of all Raider Forces was another goal in the Brotherhood. Brotherhood Soldier Walking Down an Abandon Street Less than a month ago was one of the largest wars the brotherhood had against the Raider Forces under the remains of the Interstate 15, Interstate 8 over pass. The Brotherhood found a base of operations supposedly of the Raiders and in an attempt to remove it advanced into the city of San Diego from El Cajon and a massive small arms war erupted with a few mechs from both sides entering into the fray. The raiders were ill prepared for the sudden attack leading to a great loss on their end. These are the results of mankinds need to have power. North Korea was the start of all this and it lead to the potential fall of humanity. The one hope of survival of the human race is the Terran Goverment. A illustrated image of hope for the civilized people depicting the Brotherhood/Raider War Post Apocolyptic - stewcool - 04-02-2009 --PRESENT DAY-- "*static* Brotherhood...*static*...urr...copy?" Our radio started to go off as we headed to 1st. The signal out here was really weak because of all the interferences. "I repeat this Schnurr unit do you copy?" A female voice over the radio called out. We apparently got close enough for a really good signal. Though we were now in a clearing so this may have been the reason. "This is Schnurr unit, what's up babe? Schnurr was Travis' last name and the girl on the radio was his wife. "Hey honey, are you and Stewart heading to 1st and Charley?" I nodded at Travis as I focused on driving. "Yup, don't start the party without us." "Oh we won't however don't go shooting everyone or thing either. We have mechs here to take over the scene. Can you and Stewart go up high?" What she ment was can we go into sniping position. The other thing I'm an ace at. He clenched his jaw a bit before responding. He always gets bored being spotter. Though most the time we go close combat so it was my turn to have some fun. "Sure thing babe." At that reply I turned the truck sharply onto 2nd Charley. I had a sniping post for each section and every time I changed it. I drove for a good extra mile before making it to the post where I parked the truck on the side of a pile of rubble. We went into a beat up 10 story building and started to climb up to the roof. It wasn't much of a challenge for us to run up the stairs to the top. From the roof we could see all of first street and the top of most building. I was able to see the convoy and raider mechs and footmen. Our mechs were hiding behind some buildings the next street over. "Steph this is Stewart. Travis and I are in position. 0 Snipers visible. 50 Footman tops and two light armored mechs. Should be a cake walk." "Alright Stewie, thanks. All units move in." Our mech pilots never like obstacles as our tanks and lighter vehicles went around the mechs walked through the buildings that were in the way. Doing so made a loud noise and the Raider forces started to open fire on our mechs. Light arms fire from footmen doesn't do a thing to our mechs but the light armored mechs do. When our mechs got in firing visible range they shot at the two enemy mechs legs. Slamming one in it's joint the enemy mech tried to move and fell to the ground. The other however wasn't so lucky to just be immobilized. A pulse cannon from one of the brotherhood mechs slammed into the cockpit of the mech. That pilot was dead. Our soldiers finally arrived from around the corner and that's when all the raiders just gave up. Surrendering. Out of the corner of my scope I saw a flicker from something in the distance, up high. Looking to what it was. It was a sniper moving up the stairs to a destroyed building. His rifle was reflecting sunlight making him a noticeable target for Travis and I. "Stephanie we got a sniper do north of you about 500 yards. Moving into position. Permission to take him out?" "Granted. Don't let him get a shot." I smirked as I looked through the scope at my target progressing up to the roof. I counted down aloud as I prepared to fire. "3-2-1" *Boom* The noise of my rifles gun fire echoed throughout the area as the sniper's body over 1000 yards away jolted to the right from the impact and fell to the ground. The bullet upon impact caused his head to explode. Post Apocolyptic - stewcool - 04-05-2009 The sounds of my rifles gunshot rang out throughout the area. The raider units were now our prisoners as we loaded them up in one of the trucks. Travis and myself still watching from my sniping post. "Stewart and Travis go ahead and head down. We've got it from here." "Roger that Steph, Travis and I are heading down now." We packed up our toys and went back to the truck. Arriving at the truck. I always loved this truck. The oldest truck in the Brotherhood to date and one of the toughest too. It was an old 1996 Ford F-350 model. Black paint with reinforced chassis and windows. With a 4in raise kit for the suspension. Oh and can't forget the carefully mounted machine gun on the bed. With the 6 flood lights. This truck was a rare sight to see for any enemies. Travis got in the passenger seat like always and I got in and started the truck up. We sat there for a minute to see if any order would come in. No chatter on the radio for us today. Travis and I started to head back to my house. "Stewart, where ya heading?" "Uhh we're heading to my place Steph, why?" "You got a visitor at HQ. Head over there please." Travis looked at me a bit confused. Neither of us ever have a visitor. I turned the truck toward HQ and headed that way. Our HQ, like most of our facilities stuck out like a sore thumb. It was largest building in the city and the most guarded. All Brotherhood buildings were painted a opaque white color. Making them very noticeable to anyone who was a friend or enemy. We were a few miles out from it and were able to see it from where we were. It wasn't much of a drive though. Nothing really deadly. We were going down a road at 80 miles per hour. Normally there is never any traffic out in the combat zones. This area of the city was a safe zone. A 10 mile radius around the HQ. If any combat occurred in this zone you would surely be killed by either robotic weapon fire or brotherhood weapons fire. We had men stationed at almost every corner of the safe zone. Making it almost impossible to get anywhere if attacked. Finally arriving at the gate to HQ the guards saluted us as we drove in. Earlier in the year we made a path for our truck to park in. We parked the truck at the top of the stairs to the HQ. Right next to the entrance. Just to be show offs but we found the truck to be a great deterrent to any hostiles that may want to attack the base. Travis and myself holstered our weapons as we entered the building. Both of our helmets were still on. The only way people knew to salute us was by the armor we wore. The entrance was welcomed by two large giant white reinforced doors. Once through the doors is a long lobby. Large enough to house a large mech if it was needed. If was needed. After every fifth support to the building there was an opening in the supports. On each side was a large mech. A total of four mechs lined the hallway. Travis and I continued to walk all the way to the end of the lobby. A desk was in the center of the end of the lobby. A receptionist with two armed guards was at the desk. They all knew who we were and let us pass by to the second set of large doors. Not massive like the first set. Just larger than a normal door. Going through these doors lead you to a row of elevators for a set amount of floors. The elevator we needed was at the end. Which was the only elevator that went to the top floor. The only floor that didn't have a staircase that connected to it. This elevator was also guarded by two armed guards. The two guards saluted us as we entered it. The door closed as the elevator ascended. Post Apocolyptic - stewcool - 04-05-2009 The Elevator took a good 5 minutes to get to the top most floor. During which time Travis and I were silent. We were both baffled as to who could be visiting me. *couple minutes later* We finally made it to the top floor. The elevator doors opened up to reveal two guard at the elevator. Upon exiting the elevator the architectural design of the building was noticed. The building from the inside was shaped like a circle. From the top you can see all the way down to the lower most floor. Each floor, other than this one, had many doors. For different lines of business and offices. Guards patrolled each floor on a constant basis. We walked around the circle to the other side to the VIP office. There was only 3 offices on this floor. This floor was dedicated to me Travis and Stephanie. We were the leaders of the brotherhood in this city. Stephanie being the one who gives the orders though. Making it around to the VIP office the guards opened the door for us. This room was more of a lounge than an office. Seating on one of the couches facing away from us was a female figure. Travis stopped stopped at the door as I approached the couch. Taking off my helmet as I approached the couch. The person heard me and turned around as I stopped dead in my tracks. Staring astonished at the girl before me. Post Apocolyptic - stewcool - 04-27-2009 //bout time I got back to this. The girl on the ouch was Sharon, my girl. She wasn't suppose to be back for another two months. How did she manage to get back to me so quickly? I stood there dumb founded at the sudden arrival of Sharon just sitting there smiling at me. As though nothing happened. "Sharon? How did you......" I paused most missions the brotherhood do don't allow for early leave. "How did I get here so quickly?" She finished my question for me. I nodded. "They let me go early because of good behavior." She giggled a little bit. I smiled at her as I approached the couch and sat down next to her. Giving her a kiss. "I missed you so much beautiful" I always called her beautiful. "So did I!" She responded excitingly. Like always. One of the things I missed. -- We were in the truck heading back home. My place was large enough to house all of us and then some, Sharon, Travis, Stephanie, and a few others. It was a small fortress. If I had to defend from any attack. My place would be the place where I did it. As we were heading home Sharon told the story of what was going on at Phoenix. Apparently the leaders of the Phoenix Safety zone wanted to expand out of Arizona. The population of the safe zone was far to large for the state of Arizona and an expansion was the only thing they can think of. The expansion called for alot of terraform. Flatting alot of land and putting in radiations shields exsectra. It was a long task that didn't require Sharons geographical expertise. Just alot of machinery. The expansion was now going to end at El Cajon. Which means we had to push the raiders completly out of San Diego in a certain time frame. |
