Always have thought this, and I figured they would be reworked a bit in the update, but no such thing happened. Here are the high quality renders of the two, courtesy of LA.

As can be clearly seen, the textures are really plain and shoddy looking to me. No offense to the original texture creator, but they just don't stand up to the quality of the rest of the ships we have here. The models are great, but the textures really hurt in my opinion. Look similar to a satin black spray paint job. Maybe someone can keep the dark color, but add some detail? Monochrome, very very dark metal plating or some such? I can see it in my head; wish I could do it; but it would make the ships look so much better.
And please, save the "you'll never fly them, so shut it" comments. Not getting into that, and either way, we all see them one way or another.
If there's some reason as to why the texture has stayed, feel free to speak up.

Probably because no one else has really cared before.
They're black ships. They have a black texture. They have a sigil on them that would be at home on a young lady's lower back.

Anyways, I know we've got loads of wicked texturers here. Anyone? Doom, your dark metal texture on the Nyx would fit fairly well, if you just made it a little darker.

i cant simply retexture current models without permission of original modeler...however, i can promise that for 4.86 phantoms will get new ship line...
I will simply force Jinx to make them :lol:...kind of hostage situation...phantom style...

Anyways, who made those models? Was it Firebase? Seems like I've seen those ships around in other places.
