So, a little context... There are often talks within the Dev chat as to the 'main' reasons that answer questions such as: Why do people still play? Why don't people still play? What can we do to encourage activity?

While in general, the devs are aware of a number of different factors that contribute to the current state of affairs for Disco. One of the things we do not know fully is how much effect these have on the community when they decide to continue to play or leave.

In a purely non-sanctioned attempt to gather information. I compiled a short survey with some questions trying to pry out the answers we are looking for. I intend to share the results with the development team once a large enough pool of responses has been collected.

I would be grateful if those who fill it out would do so honestly. And be brutally honest.

I could be a big hypocrite and say that I'm playing for big and pure RP but I doubt this still exist on Discovery. No encourage for doing quality RP and a low number of new players (that yet leaving in many cases because, let's be honest with ourselves, Freelancer has a little to offer in 2021. The only reason people keep playing is either bad machine or nostalgia) rendering most of the map being empty, piracy being dead, and people only log for occasional PVP based on Discord pings.

Yet, Discovery PVP is another reason why some people are leaving or vice versa - keep staying here. The gap between a newbie, average and then - elite player is too huge. There is no way a newbie or even average could have a chance to win in a fair fight against an ace, and very few (if any) aces have the mentality that allows them to get defeated. Many are playing for the sole purpose of "victory at any cost" and this is sad for the community's health.

As for me - I'm playing for the sole purpose of having fun with friends in the location I like (Gallia is the best house btw). If the majority of them would leave the game, I think I would follow them as well.
