Ship review and feedback II: - Guest - 04-05-2009 Since my old one had to other replies but the pvp stats, i will be fair not to boore everyone with the RP aspects of these three wonderful ships and get down and dirty: Hyena: Surely on the light side of a light fighter, having only three guns and relativly large, the Hyena is my choice for a Hf. Yes, HF, look at the armour and youll understand. A debilitator, two sammaels, a nuke and a TCD was enough to kill an avanger and a sabre without using bbs on a 2v1 mach in connecticut, the shield is useless, true, but with the right pattern and using the ship's thinness ness will make you deadly to any bomber and vhfs. Warewolf: A monster in space, this vhf and bomber breed has a torpedo and a CD slot, meaning you can mount a TCD and a MR/torpedo/inferno and munch up anything that can be thrown at you. The powerplant is still rather sucky tho, having all sammael loadout was a big mistake, so three debilitators and three sammaels and weapon grouping was ideal for me. Only thing tho the warewolf is a brick. A big, large, sexy brick and i wouldn't want it to be anything else. Barghest: A monster and a fearsome foe to any trader, including those cap 8 liners. A SN, a Nova torpedo, and a TCD. All you need to make everyone cringe. Add a class 6 freighter shield and they will run. Oh this ship is so fun, even tho, it has two turrets, one of which was a fwd firing one in 84, now both are rear firing and still can do damage if you swap them for debs and use V while jousting. Favourite kill so far, was to 180 while jousting, before passing, debbing the Liberator's shields off with the turrets and MRing once he passed. The barghest is a bomber of choice if you are in liberty, its a gunboat more or less too, but, sadly, also a large SN magnet, but, it can eat two MRs if you have an armour upgrade 8. (i think) Better have a vhf near you if you think to pirate in that thing, deadly as it is, it is a big ladie and tends to get slow when turning. Ship review and feedback II: - tansytansey - 04-05-2009 You also forgot to mention the Werewolfs' 43k~ armour with an armour 8. It has enough hull to survive a MR. Personally I want the Hyena rebalanced to a HF. Give it a class 9 HF shield, slightly more armour, make its' turret forward facing and class 5, then give it x2 class 10s and x1 class 9 to make up for only having three guns, where other HFs usually have 6. Upgrade its' CD slot to carry torps as well. I also think the Greyhound would do good as a Light Fighter. It is presently a VHF smaller than our LF. In fact it is roughtly the same size as the Hussar and Banshee and only about 25% bigger than the Patriot. Give it a class 8 light fighter shield, buff its' manuverability and give it x2 class 8 and x2 class 9 guns. But that's just me. Other people probably prefer the Greyhound as a VHF. Ship review and feedback II: - Guest - 04-05-2009 Ahh, the 'yena is fine, the Grey, on the other hand, indeed, would look more like a Lf. Afterall, a Hyena is more deadly then a Greyhound species vise Ship review and feedback II: - mjolnir - 04-05-2009 Hyena has forward firing turret... in case you didn't notice  EDIT: Werewolf as well btw... and saying that Werewolf has weak powerplant is perfect example of "The Sabre effect" as I call it. Yes the powerplant is "weak" when you fire 6 of the most powerhungry lvl 9s with it and on the other hand the much weaker Greyhound powerplant is "strong" when you fire just 4 guns with it. Ship review and feedback II: - Guest - 04-05-2009 That's why I mentioned its a bad idea to mount all sammaels heh heh As for the 'yena, it didnt have a turret back in 84...oh well. More the reason to re-buy mine Ship review and feedback II: - mjolnir - 04-05-2009 Actually it did, the turret was forward firing even in 4.84. Maybe you never mounted one to try? Ship review and feedback II: - Reverend Del - 04-05-2009 Hyean has always mounted a forward firing turret. I'd prefer it to be balanced as an LF to be honest, as it doesn't compare to any other LF on the market. I'd settle for an armour nerf and an agility upgrade. But the other two are jsut dandy as they are, no complaints at all, yes they are big and slow but make up for that with cracking armour and a powerplant that's really quite big when compared with other VHF's and bombers. Ship review and feedback II: - Guest - 04-05-2009 Boss has spoken. Ship review and feedback II: - Grumblesaur - 04-05-2009 No complaints on the Barghest. The thing's a monster. Liberty's Fafnir, if you will. Werewolf is meant for solo Pirating and might be the only VHF that can do it efficiently. Not so sure about the Hyena, though. It's an oddball among LFs. Ehh.. it turns faster than half the LFs now (Hussar, Wyrm, Phantom++) ...but only in one direction ;) So it can't really be much faster. It's also the only LF that does NOT die to one nuke. |
