Logan Kennedy - Logs - TheKusari - 09-07-2021
The Starfliers company is not for me. Halpert may be willing to go into dangerous systems and return half-dead, but I'm not willing to do the same when he's recovering. System mapping sounds like a boring job, especially when I'm pressing a couple of navigational buttons and just aimlessly looking out of my cockpit. The most I have liked, however is the ship Leon bought Halpert. The Kali-Class Light Fighter does look like something I'd like to fly. As much as I like Leon and respect the business he has built, I'll have to say goodbye. Halpert will recover and return to what he does best. It feels like there's something else that calls to me... something that may suit me better than flying around unarmed. I'll go looking. Right now, my heart is telling me to go to Manhattan. Maybe this is it, my big break. Gotta wait for Ames to give the all-clear to head out to Colorado. Let's see if this trip to Liberty gives me an opportunity for this "something"... My trip through Colorado was uneventful, decided to swing past Denver to refuel and get a bite to eat. In orbit lies an installation called One Police Plaza, looks to be a heavily fortified place. Possibly a home for the Police or Navy. In any case, I continued my long trade lane trip to New York and flew to Manhattan. Upon landing, and finding my way to the closest bar, I noticed newly designed "we want you" displayed on the advert screens. The image flipped to it's alternate, which was the insignia for the Liberty Police. Liberty Police... could be something I can try my hand at. Maybe this will get me up and moving around instead of being held up inside a dangerous storm. From the bar, I took notice of the signs around the streets and buildings to arrive at the applications office. There, I signed my name on an application to join Liberty Police Inc. If I get accepted, great! If not, then that "something" is still out there, waiting for me. The Starfliers will be alright with me gone... wish me luck! I'll need it. I've been accepted into Liberty Police! Figured my less-than-ideal skillset would have been enough to be rejected, but somehow it got given the green light! At this point, I wanted to look all official and proper for my first day out in space, so I secured myself a Liberator-class vessel from One Police Plaza, which I now know is the headquarters of Liberty Police, and made my way to Manhattan. I met up with Commissioner Nazumaki in orbit and started my first day in the force! A few other vessels showed up. Bounty Hunters, Navy, another officer. It was quite the first day indeed! After having some troubles operating the Liberator-class, I finished my day and landed on Manhattan. This lead to me posting my first report into the Liberty Police Reporting Office. I can definitely get used to this kind of work! I left Manhattan a couple hours later and asked the Commissioner to take a lap around Pennsylvania with me. We had a small conversation and one topic was brought up, equipment. Apparently the police can use whatever tools they can in order to effectively do their job. This conversation has been attached below for future reference. With this in mind, I used the Starfliers nav-map library to pinpoint a station in Baffin that markets the Kali. Took a tour around Texas to Puerto Rico and finally to Baffin. Civilian technology... the kind of hardware I know how to use efficiently! The Liberator's cockpit layout was a little confusing. I guess that's the same for all Liberty technology. With my equipment and transponder transferred to the Kali, I flew back to One Police Plaza to continue my police training.

Just barely graduated the Liberty Police Weapons Training Program! Boy that was hard. Being unfamiliar with starship weapons, it was quite the experience to be thrown in the deep end to quickly learn and understand the specific details of armaments. They had courses specific to each kind of fire rate, distance, speed... quite the library. As a recruit, I was expected to complete at least seven of these courses to graduate. One Police Plaza has quite the library when it comes to weapons training simulations, so I picked a varied group of weapons ranging from shotgun-like arms to ones mimicking a gatling laser cannon from the old entertainment shows. After a handful of days of repeat testing to pass even a single simulation, I managed to get through at least six of them. Some were easier than the rest, but all were a passing grade. I'm sure the instructors were wondering why and how I was there, but despite this they still signed me off. The last training simulation was for a set of high fire-rate weapons. Their designation is the "Justice" Class. Complete opposite to the weapons the Commissioner recommended on my first day! I got them mounted on my digital fighter and made my rounds through the simulation. It took me three hours. One failed attempt, my first time using the weapons. The next was a pass, the highest mark of all my grades! Seems I may have some form of affinity for high fire-rate weapons, or something just "clicks" when I use them, but as far as the test went, I did pretty good. Once that was over and I was formally congratulated and graduated out of weapons training, I refit my Kali with four Justice Class weapons. Problem is, the technology isn't quite compatible for some reason. Power core is sapped and I can only fire a few shots before my engines start to flicker out. The Commissioner said I could use anything to do my job properly, what gives? |
