TRANSCRIPT An introduction, I guess. I am doctor Harrison Herring, 42 years old, from Liberty. Manhattan Institute of Technology, PhD in astrophysics. [PAUSE] This is the first day I set foot in this ship. The Horizon. The beginning of my career off the institution. I'd like to thank my family for all their support for getting me here. It's like... [PAUSE] A dream come true. Many things are yet to be done and achieved. First, We'll get this ship up and running, ready for a lengthy expedition in the Border Worlds and maybe even beyond. I can not wait to see the nomad structures for myself! [PAUSE] The scanners require some configuration, and our means of defense are yet to be installed. I'll update this log as soon as we are ready. I'm ecstatic to meet the crew! [PAUSE] While they arrive, I'll tour around the ship... guess this is all, for now. End logging. [END]

TRANSCRIPT This is the second log of the Horizon. this is Harrison speaking... [PAUSE] Science and survey crews have been transferred from Kansai, and the scanner batteries have been purchased and stocked. This ship is now crewed by 21 people. Well, guess ADAM doesn't counts as one. Can't wait for the ARAPSS installation. Mark VIII. I've heard many things about this scanner, and I look forward to give the order to use it. [PAUSE] I haven't logged myself... I'll attach a picture at the end of this log. I'll greet the new crew members, chat a little. The installation of the scanner has taken some time now. Must be a very sensitive piece of equipment... Well, Harrison out. [END]

TRANSCRIPT This is the third log of the Horizon. Doctor Harrison speaking. The ARAPSS installation finished and all systems are green. We're ready to depart... [PAUSE] It's finally happening! We're setting course to the borderworld systems. Mostly uncharted, but accessible region of Sirius. There's much to be seen and to analyze! [PAUSE] I want to keep this log short. Crew is waiting for my greenlight so we can undock from Kansai. End logging. [END]

TRANSCRIPT It's a success! We reached the anomalous location at Tau-23. The scanner works perfectly. We've collected our first pieces of data from the anomalies, perhaps related to the disabled Gallic jumpgate nearby. Some time was spent scouting the immediate zone for more anomalies, to a total of three found and fully scanned. Sadly, our batteries only allow for three full scans. I've talked to my team, and we decided to make way to Liberty, where there are reports of anomalous objects in a secluded system. To reach there, we went through Leeds, and... [PAUSE] ...you could smell the ashes just by looking at planet Leeds. That whole region of space is covered in debris from multiple warships of varying allegiances. Some of the crew members were disturbed by the sight, and we hope such atrocity never happens again. Perhaps one day, we'll make a big contribution towards peace. [PAUSE] ...The Horizon is approaching Willard Research Station on California as I speak, where we will enjoy some shore leave, recharge the batteries of the scanner, and make way to this anomalous system. Harrison out. End logging. [END]

TRANSCRIPT So, the rumors were true! There's a [PAUSE] in [PAUSE] system! It is hardly believable, even when you see it for yourself! The anomalous nebula surrounding the [PAUSE] lit up our navigational sensors like a star as soon as the ship left the jump hole. When I saw that, I knew we would find something. I gave A.D.A.M. an order to set course towards the center of the nebula... As we entered the outer layers of the nebula, sensors reported exotic particles in every direction, with density increasing as we proceeded deeper. In no time, gravitational and temporal anomalies, one by one, started appearing at short range. We delved into the heart of the nebula, and there it was. Magnificent! a [PAUSE]! Albeit, a damaged one. One of the science officers told me it could still be active. I'm really considering an excursion, but we are all unsure what we will find on the other side. Oh, this is not the only thing we found! There's a station not far away from the [PAUSE]. There's no information about it. No records, no amount of crew members, no IFF. We attempted to relay a standard docking request to the station, but it was promptly denied. What's that doing there? My guess is: it's abandoned. Why? Well, I am not sure. The surroundings surely do not seem inviting. [PAUSE] We're back at Willard for another set of batteries. After everything's in place, the anomaly research will continue. Uh, what log is this? The fifth? I kinda lost track. Last days were quite demanding. Harrison out. End log. [END]

Doctor, the engineering and manufacturing modules are ready to operate at your discretion. Alongside the research module, we're confident the research and development of select technologies can begin at once. The list has been uploaded to your neural net. We advise the assembly of one of the items to benchmark production capabilities.

TRANSCRIPT Sixth captain's log. Doctor Harrison. An update on what has been happening... We've scanned more of the anomalies in and around the anomalous zone at [PAUSE]. According to our recovered data and posterior analysis, it indicates that the [PAUSE] hidden exactly at the center of the [PAUSE] nebula is severely damaged and out of operation... It's a shame. I'd be amazed to see what hides on the other side, but this is way out of our capacities. [PAUSE] We returned to Willard for another set of batteries. We've collected a good amount of scientific data so far. Enough quantity to put us at risk. Crew suggested we stored this sensitive information somewhere other than our very ship. I contacted our ADAM-controlled mobile manufacturing and storage vessel stationed in Manhattan. An old ship from my family line, where I personally applied modifications into. Data should be safe there as we search for more. End logging. [END]

TRANSCRIPT (Mumbling) Doctor Harrison, speaking from the sickbay. I still don't know what happened. It all felt like a dream... Yes, yes, I am feeling well. It was an overwhelming sensation, and ultimately mentally draining. ADAM reported to me that I fell unconscious after the [PAUSE] communication by the [PAUSE]. I've contacted the crew via intercom, reassuring them that I am okay. The Horizon also suffered negligible damage from low velocity meteoroids while the shields were down. In addition, all crew members were instructed to be examined, just to be sure everyone's okay. A portion of the crew is still shaken, but given the outcome, I was able to convince they're safe and that the interaction was a major success. I need to keep them loyal for our mission to succeed. Another further measure, I have instructed engineering to prepare special devices: Brain Activity Regulators. Automated hormone suppression and administration. For now, I will not demand crew to use those devices, but I expect all of the crew members to voluntarily use the BARs. These should be very helpful if another occasion like this occurs. I bet they will all feel more... How can I say this... Hmmm... "In control" in those situations. I'll tour the ship, ask how each module is. It'll help with the morale. Harrison out. [END]

Doctor Harrison Herring,

I conclude the funding of the mission has hit a cautionary level. Credit reserves, if following the current trend, will be emptied in the next two days. An analysis on the current diplomatic situation of Sirius suggest great opportunities in the fabrication of military equipment. Engineering Officer-in-charge Davis has prepared blueprints according to our extracted scientific data. Those blueprints can be uploaded to the automated manufacturing facility in Manhattan where production will begin at once, and sold immediately. It is recommended in doing so in order to fund the mission.

This Intramail is a voice-to-text transcription. Already? Well. I'm not very surprised... maintaining the equipment is very costly... (Brief pause) ...Fine. Upload the schematics. But make sure this equipment is sold to the right hands. Keep me updated on the progress.

TRANSCRIPT Major progress! Remarkable! We've successfully established communications with the [PAUSE] once again. The Horizon was received by a council of some sort. Diplomacy is not my forte, but I think it was sufficient. We talked about means and methods to end the unnecessary conflict... [PAUSE] ...Contrary to what most think, the tau [PAUSE] are behaving defensively, and rightfully so. I believe that by convincing the immediate factions in and around such systems will greatly ease the tensions. They want to be left alone, and are not the enemy, unlike the assuredly aggressive omicron counterpart. [PAUSE] I am working on a dossier, planned to be sent across various factions on Sirius, starting with the factions more willing to agree. I better go back to it. Harrison out. End log. [END]
