Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

I’m sending this report to you as there have been possible breaches of treaties.
My Commanding Officer has given me the order to write this report. You can consider it read and approved by him.

During our patrol aboard the KKS-Raeren in New Berlin, I received a transmission from my fellow comrade lieutenant Jurgen Schmidt. He reported 2 Liberty Navy Osiris class battleships in the centre of the Hudson system. As this was a breach of our (albeit outdated) treaty, Chapter 3, Article 6. (Both houses are allowed to place one battleship in their zone to serve as base for their patrols. No other military installations are allowed.) Once we arrived Schmidt was already in talks with them.

They seemed to believe what they were doing was in no violation of the treaty, as they presumed these were not military installations. Whether they were just trying to fool us or just have a different interpretation of the treaty is still unknown.
They claimed to have entered the system because of a report of Nomad activity. By further questioning on that matter they didn't seem able to give any more details. Lieutenant Schmidt and my CO also remarked that it was rather unorthodox that they sent 2 battleships for a scout mission with very few intel instead of a fighter wing.
I must admit that my commander got very direct with them after first not acknowledging that this was a serious breach (although again, a debatable one considering the treaty is outdated). And second that they could not give any more useful intel on this so called Nomad report they got.
My commanding officer made sure that future incursions will be met with a similar response of force if needed.

Lieutenant Schmidt managed to calm the situation a bit after this rather tense situation. Soon after he left for other immediate duties. I stayed behind with both Navy vessels to conclude the matter. We concluded that IF there were breaches about to happen, they would contact us should the situation allow. Again, a statement that could be interpreted in many ways, but we’ll see what happens.
If they are to be trusted remains to be seen, they are Libertonians after all. On the other hand the officers were very respectful from their side. The CO even offered to fly with them in search of this so called Nomad report. I dare say that we we gave a good impression overall to be open to discussion, yet threatening enough to show our beloved Rheinland in strength and pride!

Similar findings can be found on this report that was made by Jurgen Schmidt.
The CO and our crew would like to ask the Oberkommando advice on how to deal with future-like situations as these. As we are not sure how valid the treaty itself is at this moment. Also we would appreciate guidelines regarding treating the Liberty Navy in situations like these.
I look forward to your response.

Leutnant,

i recall your name.

And i recall a concern you raised almost three months ago. Seldomly do i forget a face or a name.
You worried about Liberty and their transgressions back then. Today you come to us with the same sentiment. Your distrust is not misplaced, as this matter has piqued my personal interest.

We are aware of the unfolding situation in Hudson, reports came in - steps will be taken. Nothing goes unnoticed nor without reaction.
Prepare to be added to our efforts in Hamburg and Hudson, Leutnant Kunrad. On that note, your commanding officer would do well to not overstep his authority in displaying his immediate distaste for what transpired by issuing statements that might be regretted later. He is to weigh his words carefully. We will not be an open book to them from here on.

You have your orders.

Geehrte Admiral von Herzsprung,

I'm glad you remember that. Since that conversation, I've done regular patrols near Hudson and Bering and kept a personal eye on their movements myself, albeit from a distance and from our side of the systems.

The KKS-Raeren is rearming itself at Alster Shipyard in the Hamburg system and is awaiting the definite order to be moved to Hudson... I also relayed your message to my CO. I will make sure his head stays cool in future tense situations.
