Konnichiwa,

Recently, in my patrols in the Tau systems, I've come across what remains of Battlegroup Auxesia. They call themselves the Technocracy of Auxo, and after a brief share of knowledge with an esteemed member of the Shimamori clan, it's become obvious that what I know may not be recent enough. I have submitted a patrol report to the Naval Forces Headquarters regarding their incursion into the Tau-23 system with the purpose of hunting alien lifeforms. I've yet to witness those lifeforms again. I made contact with a member of their forces afterwards, inquiring on the nature of the aliens. Both the combat detachment and the individual claimed that these aliens were a greater threat than whatever alien life exists in the Omicrons, yet I have not received any proof from them that such is the case.

Later, I once again encountered them, this time in the Saga system. Maintaining conversation was difficult, and the subject fled into sovereign space. Following in pursuit, I encountered the aforementioned member of the Shimamori clan, and we found them in the Tottori system. At this point, it became exceedingly clear that the one I encountered was suffering from an ailment of some sort, and a second one had appeared and was attempting to communicate with them. They were both escorted from Kusari space under my command and concern due to their erratic and reckless behavior.

I hold little faith in the nature of this new Technocracy. I've had the displeasure of encountering the rogue Battlegroup Auxesia before, and despite their claims, these ones don't seem to be cut from a different fabric. In this moment, for the safety of Kusarian assets and within the Tau systems, I request an Intelligence investigation into the Technocracy of Auxo, and recommend heightened combat presence in the Kusari Protectorates and deeper Tau systems.

To the attention of "Kazu Chidori".

It comes as no surprise to read about another scene involving Technocracy vessels. We are grateful for your report on the occurrences within the Tau-23 system.

Technocray vessels are already put under surveillance by KNI and KOI assets within Imperial space as per given decrees. A high profile figure within their ranks, a name you were recommended as well as it appears, "Revenant", alias S. R., was frequently in contact with us. They were a relatively good source of information so far.

Although they were personally involved in various incidents, they were ultimately victim to the circumstances or their own foreign relations clashing with Imperial Kusarian law and did not break Imperial law so far. As it stands, they do attract unwanted attention when residing within Imperial space, however it was deemed a good chance to analyse their foreign relations through observation and surveillance, rather than expulsing them from Imperial space.

Your report holds something valuable, however, as the appearance of alien lifeforms within Tau-23 supports our theories and suspicions about an unexplored system as well as the Orkney incident. There are alien lifeforms, alike to the ones encountered by the 66th Expeditionary Group in the Omicrons, somewhere in the greater Tau sector. The relative infrequent sightings render any current full-scale threat assessment as inaccurate.
Additionally, your report includes visuals on a hull of Liberty Insurgent origin operated by the Technocracy. This vessel has so far been a blank spot within our database.

With this said: Nito Kaii Kazu Chidori, you are hereby moved to the Akatsuki battlegroup. You will no longer require to follow a strict patrol plan. You are hereby instructed to keep your eyes and ears on the Tau sector and act as a direct asset to the Naval Intelligence. You are not to forget your regular duties but priority lays on investigation efforts. Do your job well and we will either transfer you permanently to the Naval Intelligence or support your further career within the regular Uchugun forces. For your investigation efforts, you may freely act on the circumstances within the Tau sector, you may freely act on the circumstances within the Tau sector in line with the Imperial Stellar Codex.

Relay all your findings in a similar fashion to this comm-link.

Konnichiwa,

I once again thank you for your consideration, and I now come bearing the fruits of my new transfer to the Akatsuki Battlegroup. Their patrol wings are a rowdy, friendly, and highly skilled bunch, and it is a great honor to be included with them. They have a habit of long-range patrols which I have taken up, and it has put my skills to the test. To this end, I began an "Incursion Patrol" to map the nearby Tau systems. I have found it necessary to have practical knowledge of the large-scale maneuvers which can be carried out, and I have done so with the assistance of Santo Kaisa Miyuki Ishii.

I deployed from Battlecruiser Akatsuki, and met my escort above Nago station. From there we continued past the Freeport and into Tau 31. The information given to me by the Kuro wing was that there was a wormhole in the west edge of the Tau 31 system, in the danger zone marked out on public maps, and we found it. The endpoint was the Edinburgh system, a location plagued with Bretonians of mostly violent manners. We were accosted by a Molly gunship amidst the wreckage of Gallic and Bretonian warships, who was quickly dispatched, and witnessed that Planet Gaia of rumors and stories. From there, we made our way to another system, Roussillon, which was heavily occupied by various Gallic forces, mostly Maquis and Gallic Royalists.

While investigating the asteroid fields in Roussillon, we discovered an uncharted Jump Hole. We had no prior info on it, and no hints as to where it leads, and opted to not take risks when at a Shield Battery and Ammunition deficit. In the future, I'd like to take a larger exploration wing through that Jump Hole. There was no activity in the asteroid field or around the Jump Hole, contrary to the rest of the system, which also raises suspicion. My simple preliminary scan has placed it's endpoint west of the physical Barrier Nebula, but not outside of the Tau cluster, which places it closer to Orkney and Gallia than Edinburgh. If possible, I'd like to access any remarkable files and documents on the aforementioned "Orkney Incident", as I intend to next conduct my next Incursion into Orkney itself, through Tau-23.

We concluded the patrol through the Tau-44 system, a Crayterian system and also home to a sect of militant freelancers of a sort known as Natio Octavarium, and finally in the Tau 23 system where we inspected the Baxter anomaly where the aliens were first sighted. No aliens have been seen since, and I've yet to find Auxesians in my patrols either. In Tau 23 I parted with my escort and returned to Tau 29 and the Akatsuki, where I was received warmly. Attached will be full logs of the patrol.

Konnichiwa,

My continued monitoring of the Baxter anomaly in Tau 23 has yielded results. In a patrol through the Taus within the Akatsuki Battlegroup's patrol area, I encountered a set of individuals hailing SLRC in their ship callsigns. The first one I encountered was the one that was present for the first incident in Tau 23, and that first incursion of the Auxesians. I encountered a second one, and we had a short conversation. As I was exiting the system, however, we were engaged by a set of two Xenoforms from the east edge of the system. This was a particularly unpleasant battle, the aliens had some sort of heat seeking missile, and were ridiculously fast and small. My Countermeasure Flares were depleted before the first one was dealt with, as only Cruise Disrupters were able to make meaningful connections with them. For the second one, I instead turned my cruise disruptor towards the missile the alien had just fired, destroying it in the detonation.

What followed was my prompt retreat from the system towards the Battlecruiser Akatsuki, as I had taken extensive damage and was lacking ammunition. On my exit, however, I saw that we were being followed. Maintaining distance was an Auxesian. I continued my retreat, and eventually encountered the Auxesians again outside Nago station. I was joined by the Commanding Officer of the Kakunodate, and a dialogue ensued. The Auxesians fled towards the Freeport, using civilian lives as shields for what they knew would be dangerous for them if they continued to hide the truth, which they did.

Attached will be the full logs of the encounters. On a personal note, however, I recommend swift and decisive action. I've had the unfortunate experience to encounter the Leviathan and his followers before. The rogue Battlegroup Auxesia, once a part of Liberty's puppet state in the Omicrons called The Core, are honorless fanatics who once nearly took the life of myself and my father when I was first learning to pilot. This Technocracy is quite clearly the same as it's predecessors, their frequent sighting near aliens is proof enough. They once claimed to wish to safeguard all technology in whatever form it comes. They would then use this claim to slaughter and pilfer anything in their path. They are a cult who's faith is technology, and they do not deserve mercy.

To the attention of "Kazu Chidori".

Data gathering conducted is satisfactory. It aligns with previous known instances of Technocrat interest surrounding Baxter and other anomalies.
It aligns with previous gathered intelligence from the source - namely 'Revenant' - too. We already have an hypothesis potentially explaining their behavior at our borders.

It is not within my might to overturn the Lord Protector's call, nor is it my desire to attempt this. Do not hunt them within the Tau sector, keep focused on data gathering. Do not let your personal feelings impact your task any further, Nito Kaii. This is not a friendly request.

Understood. The Naval Intelligence mandate will be obeyed.

I am once again asking for relevant files on the previously mentioned "Orkney Incident". I intend to lead patrols looking for a more accessible entrance to the location connected to Roussillon. I've reached the conclusion, based on radial distance, that the end point is near Orkney or Tau 44. Otherwise, it would be near Leeds or Tau 31, which seems highly unlikely given the lack of life in the asteroid field. There are significantly lower chances that it is outside the local cluster, or that it is near Dublin, yet it is not impossible. As bringing a wing across Bretonia would cause noticeable issues, and there's not yet a good answer to traveling outside the local cluster, Orkney and Tau 44 are the most significant exploratory options.

Konnichiwa,

This report finds you from Java station. I was defeated in combat through my own mistakes. In the process of my patrol of Tau 23, I stumbled upon an interesting convention.

I began as always, inspecting the anomaly for aliens. There was no such thing today, and after a pleasant chat with the Zoner scientists studying the anomaly, I continued on. Near the end of the patrol, I caught sight of a Gallic Brigand. I know very little about the group, other than that they are Gallic criminals and are to be engaged. I tailed the criminal on it's path to the Tau 31 gate, and stumbled upon a Gallic Navy Battleship convening with Auxesian pilots. Due to my own misconfiguring of weaponry, I was defeated in the proceeding battle. Zoner passerby, possibly related to the scientists, retrieved my escape pod and the remains of my ship, and have kindly deposited me on Java station.

I've also been given cause to ask, as you will read in the radio transcript: Does the allowance of joint operations with Gallia against enemies outlined to me in my patrol doctrine invalidate the restriction of Confederacy of Gallia and all its successors to 15K of the jump gate? I was informed that the exception to this restriction was joint operations and pursued criminals. If this is the case, I simply request a fully updated patrol doctrine, and humbly apologize for my misquoting of doctrine to the Commanding Officer of the Battleship. If this is not the case, I also report the violation of Protectorate space by the Gallic Battleship [GN]GNFS-Normandie. Judging by approach vector with myself chasing the Brigand who came from either the Languedoc Gate or the Languedoc Jump Hole and who was headed towards the Tau 31 Jump Gate, the Gallic Battleship was nowhere near the Brigand, and was not looking for it as they had claimed. They were already at the Tau 31 gate along with the Auxesians, and had prior conversation about Gallic communications as I arrived.

To the attention of "Kazu Chidori".

I highly recommend you read up on the Treaty of Rishiri again. However, we are most grateful for your report. As it turns out, the Gallics attempt to re-establish diplomatic contact over the exact scenario you witnessed, describing the situation as "fully in line with the Treaty" and the Gallic warship to have "pursued hostile contacts". Your word and description is times more valuable than a Gallic's claim. This will be very helpful.

I forwarded a priority message to the NOH, Itto Kaii.

Konnichiwa,

Todays patrol was eventful. I was joined by the pilot of the ship codenamed Onamazu. We followed the primary patrol from Akatsuki to Planet Harris, and deviated from there. We crossed once more the Edinburgh system, and this time entered the Orkney system through the Jump Hole near Planet Gaia. I had been there before, but only briefly, and so we began an Intelligence recon across the nearby landmarks in the system.

We began with Planet Sanday, the largest stellar body. In orbit, we found a base that flashed no identifications. It was clearly abandoned, and so we moved on around the planetary rings to the other side of the planet. There we found what remains of the Issoudun Shipyard, and inspected it as well as we could without EVAs. Perhaps, with significantly more time, we could bring a survey team to examine the wreckage. In the meantime, I observed that the majority of the damage was not on sensor arrays, reactor cores, or drydock portions, but on personnel-occupied areas. Hallways, command modules, crew quarters, those places where people would be found. I theorized that this attack was more of an extermination than a crippling of military might. This theory, coupled with the demands I have seen in the Treaty of Harris and the Leviathan Accords it references, lead to my wildly tangential theory that the attack was from Bretonia, it's aim being the claiming of as many Gallic lives as possible.

The patrol continued on towards the Westray Asteroid field with the intent to plunge deep within to avoid scanners and patrols. However, as we reached the edge of the field, a Gallic Naval vessel was spotted on scanners, so we quickly deviated courses and instead crossed the open space towards the Stronsay Asteroid field. Once there, we entered the field and followed the inside edge to avoid ambushes from within and scanners from without. We exited the field at roughly the G6 grid square, and made our way to Tau 23 from there.

Within Tau 23, we encountered a Gaian warship, which was strange in and of itself, but before we had the opportunity to think too hard about it we were engaged by Brigands, one of which was the cause of my stay on Java Station. After the battle had begun, a Gallic Navy officer appeared and engaged the Brigands, followed by an Outcast Gunboat, who was then chased off by the reappearing Gaian cruiser. The brigands were shot down, after a field repair on Java Station and hasty thanks to the IMG manning the station, we launched back to space to watch Auxesia watch the SLRC scientist collect more data on the anomaly. This did not last long, because with the return of the Gallic Navy officer and the appearance of a BIS agent came the return of the Outcast Gunboat. The present lawful forces engaged the Gunboat while the Zoner researcher defended their station. Heavy damage was dealt to the Gunboat, but cartel reinforcements in the form of a cruiser and a heavy battleship arrived, which lead to the present fighter craft retreating and the end of the patrol's duration in the Tau 23 system. Dialogue was exchanged with the BIS agent in Saga. Attached will be logs.

With the deployment of a Heavy Battleship, a Cruiser, and a Gunboat by the Outcasts, I recommend heavier combat asset deployment to the Tau 23 system. Deploying those assets suggest importance of the system to Outcast operations. Crushing them there will hinder them greatly.
