SEO Grannus Survey Log - Rickard Steiner - 05-30-2023

Objective: Level four survey and scan of South Dallas Debris Field
Projected Route: Nine point investigative circuit at variable sub-cruise speeds
Environmental Summary: Debris field, light-medium density. Hazardous radiation pockets detected centrally in sectors D7/D8 (Number of warnings triggered: 3)
Threat Summary: Large, hostile light capital vessel detected at the E6 edge of the cloud. Vessel did not respond to our presence. Navigator maintained a 10 kilometre minimum distance and were unable to survey within that area. Gateway IFF'd train CTS-King.of.Prussia encountered traversing the field. Vessel was advised of the survey and scans were halted until the vessel's engine emissions had sufficiently dissipated. Communications were amiable.
Features of Note:
- Stable jump hole surveyed, sector D7. Scans revealed nothing of note, all readings within expected metrics. Current exit as of 30/05: Hudson system, confirmed with probe.
- Area of high value, so-called "premium" scrap, sector D6, marked with a navigation buoy. One standard unit recovered for lab analysis, but initial scans reveal radiation levels and metrics in line with the greater South Dallas field. Reasons for relatively intact preservation of the parts in question: unknown.
- Two similar large, unidentified objects located D7/D8. Unknown origin and design, with superficial similarities to station 'towers' common to facilities throughout Sirius. Object "D7" returned readings consistent with the greater debris field. Object "D8" was found in an area of high radiation. Investigations continue as to whether object "D8" is the source of the emissions or not.

Objective: Level four survey and scan of West Dallas Debris Field
Projected Route: Eight point investigative circuit at variable sub-cruise speeds
Environmental Summary: Debris field, light-medium density. Single radiation pocket detected centred around the former Dallas Gate site in sector C4 (Number of warnings triggered: 3)
Threat Summary: Hostile gunboat detected (Liberty Rogue IFF, callsign Traitoro traversing the field in a parallel course to ours, forced to temporarily break off the survey to maintain distance. After querying what we were doing, the gunboat maintained its course away to the North Dallas Debris Field, and we resumed scanning.
Features of Note:
- Stable jump hole observed , sector C4. Scans revealed nothing of note, all readings within expected metrics. Current exit as of 31/05: California system, confirmed with probe.
- A set of three derelict trade lane rings proceeding from the Dallas gate site in C4 out toward the Grande Negra, terminating in sector C5. Heavily damaged and inoperable, but their positional systems appear to be functional enough to have preserved their respective positions roughly.
- Remains of the Dallas facility, mostly located centrally to the field in sector C4, with at least two larger objects being detected further out at the edge of the field in sector B4. The station proper is superficially intact for a wreck of its age though it is heavily irradiated as it is located within the hazardous zone around the gate wreck.
- Remains of the Dallas gate and anomaly, sector C4. Radiation and gravimetric distortions made scanning difficult, and we have earmarked the site for a return trip once the more general survey of the fields in Texas is complete. The gate wreckage itself appeared to be in two main parts, suspended around the radiation-emitting epicentre. Like the station, the wreckage is easily identifiable.
- Wreck of the Research Liner Hubble, located next to the Dallas facility within the radiation zone. Detailed scans reveal most delicate electronics and components have degraded and have been destroyed over time, if not during the initial incident. Organic signatures detected within, presumably the remains of the crew. Marked as a grave site and will investigate externally only.
- Unregistered station Galveston Outpost located in sector C5. Heavy weapons platforms detected, no contact occurred.
Current Status: Grannus has docked at Houston for safety checks after spending a prolonged time within the Dallas incident zone. Data processing still ongoing.
Other Notes: It is curious to observe the duality of how the wreckage of the Dallas incident is spread, with both entire fields spanning the system created, yet certain key objects having remained nearly unmoved for nearly three centuries. There is insufficient data to make any conclusions as of yet, but this is possibly due to the bizarre gravimetric behaviour around anomaly left over by the accident. There is evidence enough that the accident was not merely explosive in nature, which points to other unknown forces being the more direct cause of the destruction visited upon the Texas system at the time.
