A Guide to Mounting High Tech Hardware
( Jump Drives, Hyperspace Matrixes, Survey Modules, Cloak Disruptors and Cloaking Devices )
'Sup, everyone.
This guide is more or less attempting to educate players on which ships can mount these devices. To answer questions like "Can I use a JD4 with an Atlantis Carrier?" or "Can I use a Cloak MK3 on a Whale Transport?" - both answers are yes by the way. When it comes to these devices, they are considered the most expensive pieces on the market to equip your ships with - bar the CAU8. I can imagine a lot of newer players wanting to know exactly what ships can use what, so this guide's purpose is to fill in the gaps - at least as easily as possible. Ship types listed for each device are typically the kinds that are able to use said equipment. Let's get started:
The mechanics of jumping, surveying, matrixes, cloaks and disruptors will not be covered here. Only which ship types can use what equipment.
CLOAKING DEVICES
These ones make you invisible. Self-explanatory really.
Light Cloak Mk I- Light Fighter, Heavy Fighter, Very Heavy Fighter, Super Heavy Fighter, Bomber, Gunboat
Medium Cloak Mk II- Freighters, Cruisers, Destroyers
Medium Cloak Mk II Advanced- Cruiser, Destroyer, Battlecruiser, "Corvo"-Class, Battleship, Dreadnought, Carrier, "Nephilim"-Class
Transport Cloak Mk III- Battleship, Transport, Frigate, Liner, Train, "Corvo"-Class, "Nephilim"-Class
CLOAK DISRUPTORS
These are the foil to the Cloaking Devices. Sending out a pulse that disables any active cloaks in the area, revealing any hidden player's position.
Cloak Disruptor Type 1- Light Fighter, Heavy Fighter, Very Heavy Fighter, Super Heavy Fighter, Bomber, Gunboat, Transport
Cloak Disruptor Type 2- Destroyer, Cruiser, Battlecruiser
Cloak Disruptor Type 3- Battleship, Carrier, Dreadnought
JUMP DRIVES
These allow you to effectively transport yourself to a target system. Results may vary.
Jump Drive Series II- Cruiser, Destroyer, Battlecruiser, "Bustard"-Class, Battleship, Dreadnought, Carrier, "Nephilim"-Class
Jump Drive Series III- "Bustard"-Class, Battleship, Dreadnought, Carrier, "Nephilim"-Class
Jump Drive Series IV- "Bustard"-Class, Battleship, Dreadnought, Carrier, "Nephilim"-Class
SURVEY MODULES
Intentionally left blank, as new information will be released that will change the function of these devices.
HYPERSPACE MATRIXES
Allows other players with Jump Drives to jump to your exact location.
- All ships, excluding a handful (about 5 or so ships).

I just skimmed through the post but I believe this would do better as a pinned thread in the tutorials subforum. (Once it is completed)

Don't forget to include cargo ranges/limits + Class on JDs, cloaks. etc.

That's the plan, just wanted to get this up, even though it's incomplete. Figured with the upcoming patch I'd have to edit the thing anyways.

Nope, not the point of this guide. All other guides have this information and it doesn't exactly state what kind of ships can use them. Giving them "Up to 480 cargo" means nothing to a new player.

Yes, that's why you include both. If a ship surpasses that AND is the specified class, it will confuse them as to why it isn't working.
