Modded dinput8.dll from FL HD Edition allowed to fix mouse in borderless fullscreen? - Skyy - 09-03-2023

Hi all I'm new here and playing with a friend who introduced me to Discovery. It's been a great experience so far but I'm wondering one thing. When I set the game to borderless fullscreen the mouse snaps back to the center whenever I touch the edge making Mouse Flight really annoying. I previously played Freelancer HD Edition in single-player and they had a modified dinput8.dll to stop this behavior.

Now I wonder if I would be allowed to use this .dll on Discovery too or if it would be seen as cheating.

Thanks for any info in advance! Smile

Preferably don't use any "MODDED" File ... But you can upload a picture to see what you are looking and probably there is a chance you can do it without mod any file to avoid cheat detections

I was the one that gave that DLL to BC, I will speak to Haste & Alex about including it.

Okay thanks, well it's a modded system file, not a modded Freelancer file, it prevents the cursor from jumping back into the middle when the cursor exceeds the screen limits because of borderless fullscreen.

EDIT: This is the file in question: https://github.com/BC46/freelancer-hd-edition/wiki/Mouse-stuttering-and-snapping-in-borderless-windowed-mode

still don't get it ... "Freelancer HD Edition" ... the thing is that it appear to have some "weird changes" on .ini and .dll files ...
If the game detect as cheater or something would be WAY BETTER to uninstall the "HD" Version that it brings some improvements but the mod have other and some other better ...
But you can do a Try and talk about the experience ...
Still is better start with everything vanilla and play in that way, lot less issues or weird things that could happen when you are outside the global hd patch on the new places ...
But try it if you wanna, review it and comment what is the experience ... because as far i remember every .dll and .ini (only hudshift and another file) if modified on Disco or Vanilla versión then game anti-cheat will jump and kick or even ban you ...

But if you don't mind my asking ... why play in "Borderless Fullscreen" instead of just Full-screen once and for all, bring one file allow the game to be catch even by OBS which is nice

Oh that's a misunderstanding, I have two Freelancer installs on my PC, one is the HD Edition for single-player and one is the unmodified Discovery one. The thing is dinput8.dll isn't a file that's normally included with Freelancer, it's part of DirectX in Windows and normally resides in C:\Windows\System32 it's just when you put a .dll for DirectX next to the .exe file of a game it prefers this file over the one in System32.

Borderless Fullscreen is useful for multitasking, when you quickly want to tab out of the game to check on some information or look at a route while also still being able to keep an eye on the game too. Sure Windowed Mode works as well for this although with borderless fullscreen you get the best of both worlds, fullscreen immersion and quick multitasking.
