Terrorist Group Attacks Neon Plant!
Belle Valley, Erie - The most recent violent outburst committed by pro-Insurgent groups that continue to plague our planet since our admission into the Republic, a swift and brutal attack was conducted on Maartens Refinery in the Belle Valley region, just forty miles away from the local capital of Union City.


The plant was guarded by a platoon of Liberty Marines, who were ambushed when the attackers suddenly emerged from civilian vehicles and overwhelmed the surprised defenders after a series of explosions rocked the facility. A running firefight ensued, with Marine forces forced to cede several buildings of the refinery complex to the terrorists while awaiting reinforcements. The battle lasted just over an hour, with what remained of the Insurgent attackers fleeing to the dense woodlands as fresh troops aided in re-securing the site.


Despite initially being forced back, Marine casualties were minimal, owing to their superior training and survival skills even in the face of sudden attack. At least fourteen terrorist combatants were killed in the firefight. A total of three civilian employees at the facility are confirmed dead, with two missing. Damage to the plant is extensive, with several neon tanks having ruptured in secondary explosions during the fight, and several computer systems have been sabotaged or destroyed.


In addition to the damage, the facility's appended landing pads were found to be missing attendant ships. Authorities have identified and flagged two missing spacecraft, a pair of MV-422-B "Surveyor" miners, which are confirmed to have departed Erie's atmosphere during the incident. Efforts at tracking the craft are ongoing by the LPI.


Neon is one of Planet Erie's primary exports to the Sirian market, with Maartens Refinery being the second-largest neon extraction plant in the southern hemisphere. The economic fallout of this attack is expected to manifest further into the fiscal year, but the impact will be significant if attacks of this scale are allowed to continue. A spokesperson for the provisional government claimed to be in talks with the Liberty Navy to focus on rooting out these terror cells before the violence escalates further, reaffirming Liberty's commitment to the preservation of life and normalcy on Erie.

Textbook raid we saw back on Leeds from the few cells that managed to link with the surviving SOF units on planet during the initial invasion, sounds like the marines lost the initiative and I'm guessing they haven't disclosed the number of casaulties from the marines side for a reason, wonder how many messages are going out to families that lost people over Liberty's own expansionist greed.

Gotta' say though, this certainly reminds me of a certain somone and if that certain someone was there, I really have to imagine just how bad things really are on planet.

Fracking hells, I don't understand why our dutiful soldiers must die for these Pennsylvanians, these terror cells have been restless, spreading chaos and sabotaging Liberty-sponsored resource plants. If these brutes don't want us that bad then Liberty should leave, instead of losing more countrymen. But we all know that won't happen.

The Government of our country is fully responsible for the deaths of our compatriots, because they are the effect of its damned expansionist desire.
