Task Force Whispering Whiskers, also known unofficially as "The Martini Marauders", wouldn't be the same without their prized recon vessel, the Wraith Holme. Commanded by the enigmatic Captain Theodore "Ted" Thompson, the Wraith Holme's history is as colorful and unpredictable as the captain himself.

Laid Down in Shadow (814 AS):

Born from the fires of necessity in 814 AS, the Wraith Holme entered service amidst a tense period for The Order. Just two years removed from the devastating Nomad War, The Order recognized the need for a highly specialized recon vessel capable of navigating the ever-shifting political landscape of the Sirius star cluster. The Wraith Holme, designed for stealth and long-range information gathering, became a vital tool for safeguarding Order interests.

Baptism by Fire: The Battle of Toledo (818 AS):

The Wraith Holme's maiden voyage was one of fire and fury. In 818 AS, The Order's base on Planet Toledo came under siege by a surprise Nomad attack. The fledgling recon vessel, barely out of the shipyard, found itself thrust into the heart of the conflict. Though the battle raged fiercely, the Wraith Holme, under its first captain, managed to perform a daring escape, carrying with it vital intelligence and the flickering hope for The Order's survival. However, this victory came at a heavy cost. The captain and most of the senior staff perished, leaving the vessel scarred and its crew forever marked by the ordeal.

Whispers in the Dark (819 AS - 831 AS):

For the next thirteen years, the Wraith Holme became a phantom, flitting through the shadows of the Omicron systems. Details of this period are shrouded in secrecy. Some whisper of daring recon missions behind enemy lines, while others claim the vessel served as a reluctant smuggler, forced to trade with fringe elements to secure the resources needed to survive. Whatever the truth, the "Lost Years" cemented the Wraith Holme's reputation as a vessel that thrived in the grey areas, existing beyond the rigid protocols of The Order.

A New Captain, A New Mission (831 AS - Present):

The year 831 AS marked a turning point for the Wraith Holme. The mysterious "Pulse" event, a phenomenon that rippled across Sirius, sent shockwaves through The High Command. Following the discovery of the uncharted Earhart system, a system believed to be linked to the Pulse, The Order needed a vessel capable of venturing into the unknown. Enter Captain Theodore "Ted" Thompson, a former smuggler with a knack for navigating uncharted territories and a past shrouded in its own mysteries. Thompson's unorthodox methods, coupled with the Wraith Holme's unique capabilities, made them an unconventional yet perfect fit for this critical mission.

Location: Fort Carthage, Omicron Mu
Status: Docked
Mission: Resupply and Refuel (Extended Due to Prior Mission)

Log Entry:

The Wraith Holme has finally docked at Fort Carthage after a challenging six-week deployment conducting overwatch of the Earhart System. Due to the unpredictable nature of the Alien Gates, a favorable return vector wasn't available until now. This extended mission resulted in a significant strain on our resources, particularly water.

Crew Notice:

This is a high-priority refuel and resupply, with a particular focus on replenishing water stores. Leave passes for Fort Carthage have been granted. However, all personnel must report back to the Wraith Holme no later than 1730 hours standard Omicron time tomorrow.

Additional Notes:
  • A detailed mission report regarding intel gathered during the extended overwatch of the Earhart System is currently being compiled by Lieutenant Anderson and will be submitted to Captain Thompson for review before transmission to High Command.
  • Engineering reports minor hull abrasions sustained during the mission. Repairs will be addressed during our brief stay at Fort Carthage.
  • Medical Bay reports no major crew injuries sustained during the mission. However, the extended deployment and water rationing resulted in increased crew stress levels. Captain Thompson acknowledges the challenges faced by the crew and commends their resilience. He is prioritizing an increase in water stores for the next deployment to mitigate similar situations.

Captain's Note:

I understand the past six weeks have been demanding. Water rationing was a difficult but necessary measure. I commend the crew for their professionalism and dedication under trying circumstances. Your well-being is paramount. While at Fort Carthage, prioritize rest and relaxation. Additionally, Engineering will be focusing on maximizing water storage capacity before our next mission.

It seems my suspicions regarding Seward Station were correct. A response arrived today, confirming a change in management. However, the language used in the reply raises significant red flags. Phrases like "quality of life" are entirely out of place in a Junker's vocabulary. Their primary concern would be profit, not such idealistic notions.

The Junker reliance on incoming and outgoing traffic, regardless of legality, coupled with their tendency to operate ramshackle stations, screams foul play. There's a strong possibility the prior administrator met an unfortunate end, likely courtesy of a hostile force.

The suspects? My money's on one of the big three: The Core, Das Wilde, or a House intelligence agency. A Junker takeover wouldn't be out of the question entirely, but the sanitized language still sticks out like a sore thumb.

Further investigation is needed. I'll keep a close eye on Seward Station activity and monitor incoming and outgoing traffic. Depending on what I observe, I may need to inform High Command and update our intel on the station. We can't have a potential hostile presence lurking within Delta.

Location: Omicron Delta
Status: Underway, Silent Running
Mission: Patrol (Emergency Redeployment)

Log Entry:

During a routine patrol within Omicron Delta, the Wraith Holme encountered a sight of grave concern. A significant force of compromised vessels, the largest ever witnessed in recent memory, patrolled the sector with impunity. This fleet consisted primarily of Nomad and Wilde craft, but disturbingly, it also included ships of Kusari, Rhineland, and even Gallic origin. The presence of battleships from several major Houses represents an escalation in the threat posed by compromised vessels.

Threat Assessment:

This conglomerate fleet is unprecedented in size and scope. The presence of battleships from several Great Houses signifies a significant escalation in "compromised" activity. The size and composition of this compromised fleet suggest a coordinated effort, potentially orchestrated by a powerful, yet unidentified entity. The lack of response from established security forces requires further investigation.

Concerning Observations:

Most concerning was the complete absence of Zoner, Core, or Order forces within sensor range. This vast armada of infected vessels operated with impunity, launching attacks on civilian shipping lanes and established facilities across Delta.

Action Taken:

The Wraith Holme was woefully outmatched against such a formidable force. All attempts to engage were deemed reckless and potentially catastrophic. Emergency broadcasts were transmitted on multiple high-priority channels, but received no response.

Immediate Needs:

The Wraith Holme sustained minor damage during the encounter. Repairs are required before resuming patrol operations. Additionally, a detailed report, including sensor data and visual recordings, will be compiled and transmitted to High Command with utmost urgency. This information may be vital for assessing the broader threat and coordinating a response.

The situation in Omicron Delta continues to deteriorate. Reports of further attacks across the sector underscore the growing threat posed by compromised vessels.

Adding to the grim picture, a disturbing message was intercepted from our Phoenix allies. Apparently, a provocative individual known only as "Hornisse" has initiated a blatant extortion campaign targeting facilities near Freeport 11. The aim seems to be a multi-pronged attack on the Iridium market. Hornisse seeks to control docking permissions, manipulate Iridium prices, and even dictate production quotas.

This blatant act of economic warfare is further bolstered by a chilling threat: the destruction of any facility that resists. As a further show of force, Hornisse claims responsibility for the infected battleships wreaking havoc in Delta. This blatant display of power has undoubtedly garnered significant attention across the sector.

It is only a matter of time before the House Corporations demand a forceful response. Their profit margins and production capabilities are directly threatened.

The size and audacity of this operation suggest a well-organized and well-equipped force at Hornisse's disposal. Whether this is a rogue element capitalizing on the chaos or a coordinated effort by a major faction remains unclear. One thing that does bother me is the callousness with which some of the officer core displayed towards our Allies, especially expressing doubts at the authenticity of the problem before them. There is little doubt that Hornisse is somehow connected to the ongoing attacks in Delta. To claim otherwise is to allow them a foothold which will become insurmountable to remove.

One thing is certain - the situation in Delta requires a swift and decisive response. The Order's role in upholding stability is paramount. We must take immediate action to investigate this threat, assess Hornisse's capabilities, and determine the best course of action to assist Phoenix and protect Humanity.

//BEGINNING PLAYBACK//

General Information:
Location: Earhart System (Via EGCN Monitoring Station)
Mission Objectives: Resource Assessment
Mission Summary: The Wraith Holme has conducted a multi-week reconnaissance mission of the Earhart System via the Earhart Gate Connection Network (EGCN). The EGCN is a standard system with a capacity of 384K for occupiable space.

Observations:
  • Central Pylon: A central pilon structure serves as the anchor point for the EGCN. Eight generators surrounding the pilon operate at a level exceeding the Wraith Holme's sensor capacity. These generators emit electromagnetic radiation in a wide range of frequencies (104 Hz to 10^18 Hz) in targeted bursts towards approaching objects.
  • Debris Field: An inner debris field surrounds the central pilon.
  • Jump Gates: Eight jump gates connect the EGCN to various systems. These gates rotate to different destinations on an unknown pattern.
  • Sector Bravo Seven: The jump gate located in Sector Bravo Seven is situated within a heavily irradiated zone.
Anomalies:
  • The presence of the irradiated zone in Sector Bravo Seven, combined with the existence of the Dallas Wreck and historical data on the Texas Incident, suggests that Ageira's initial hypergate experiments may have connected to the Earhart System inadvertently.
  • This initial connection may have damaged the central pilon around 500 A.S., placing it into a low-power state awaiting reactivation by its creators.
  • The Pulse that coincided with the destruction of the Dublin Gates appears to have been misinterpreted by the central pilon as a reactivation signal.
  • Given that human jump gate technology is based on reverse-engineered Daam K'Vosh technology, it is possible that the pilon was overwhelmed by the vast human-controlled network. We believe the central pilon is now searching for K'Vosh access points by rotating through various jump gate connections.
  • Unable to reconnect to its original destinations, the central pilon appears to be searching for K'Vosh access points by cycling through various human-controlled systems. As the pilon fails to find a response it then establishes new connections at random.

Analysis:

The Earhart System appears to be an unstable and potentially hazardous location. The erratic behavior of the central pilon and the presence of the irradiated zone pose significant risks. However, the system's connection to various human-controlled systems offers a potential opportunity to locate K'Vosh technology or artifacts.

Recommendations:
  • Continue monitoring the EGCN to track the central pilon's rotation and identify any patterns in its connection destinations.
  • Analyze historical data on past K'Vosh locations to identify potential matches with systems visited by the central pilon.
  • Due to the potential dangers of the system, any further exploration should be undertaken with caution and appropriate safeguards.
