Xeno alliance with the Corsairs? - johnpeter - 05-08-2009
I was thinking, the Xeno's info card says they want a alliance, why not with the Corsairs?
I don't mean like how the Outcasts are pirating in Liberty, I just mean a alliance.
They have the same enemies:
Outcasts
Lane Hackers
Liberty Rogues
Bounty Hunters
House police, house corporations
And are not enemies with the Corsairs/Allies.
Any thoughts?

If they were allied, we'd see Corsair ships in Liberty all day, looking for fights - "we're helping our allies".
The xenos hate foreigners, Corsairs included. They're not on their infocard as they do not encountere corsairs.

What would be the point of an alliance between those two ? Corsairs don't frequent liberty and Xenos don't operate out of it.
Besides,as Fitzgerald said,Corsairs are foreigners,Xenos would never want to ally with such people in my opinion.

Who else is there? They won't be allying with Interspace/Police/Ageria... And, as they are "Desperately seeking a alliance" They might be moved to ally with foreigners.

What if their alliance with an outsider, had the effect of keeping that outsider group out of Liberty. The question is interesting. If the Xeno could say just as the FA and Hogosha have done, keep Corsairs out of liberty, while gaining access to the Artifacts market, thus taking some of that market away from the hated Junkers, why would they be against that. There is a difference between wanted foreigners out of your home or territory and just wanting all foreigners dead, no matter if they are in your territory or not.

I agree, things don't always have to be so black and white. Not when there are so many interesting shades of gray.
The Xenos are desperate for help from somewhere.. An alliance with the Corsairs could provide a link to the Hogosha and possibly the FA, and give them access to the artifact trade like Zelot mentioned. Right now there is an obscure mention of the Hogosha trading artifacts to the Lane Hackers which has never made sense to me. It's really difficult as a Hogosha to try and get Lane Hackers even to a neutral status on the rep sheet. However, the Xenos share all the same enemies as the Hogosha so from an artifact standpoint it could work.

Xenos oppose outside influences because the cheaper labour is forcing them out of work. Corsairs have no interest in taking jobs in Liberty, nor do they import harmful substances to the people of that house, therefore, they pose no threat to the Xenos' ideals.
However, what benefit an alliance would provide is debatable...possibly if the Corsairs started funding/supplying the Xenos...but isn't it the Corsairs' intent to conquer the whole of Sirius, not to merely set up puppet governments? Maybe a short-term alliance that they will cancel as soon as it is no longer needed?
Edit: read the above post; Xenos are not going to work with Hogosha/FA, as one of their main sources of unemployment is Kusari workers migrating to Liberty.
The "obscure" artifact trade is the main route into Liberty for those products...'sides, not like the Xenos are going to be much use in actually distributing the artifacts in Liberty, seeing as they cannot trade with any of it's resident factions...
