Project: "Vector" - Starfliers - 07-27-2023

.
.

S-CEV01 "Vector"-Class Starfliers Compact Exploration Vessel
A vessel that's designed to be the best exploratory ship for use under the Starfliers
Starfliers Research Project

The "Vector"-Class is designed to be the best cartography vessel to ever be constructed. Starfliers pilot Halpert Kennedy first came up with the idea of this ship after flying not being happy with the "Kali"-Class Borderworlds Fighter. This ship embodies the principles of the Starfliers, remaining weaponless and sporting a wide array of research tools accompanied by rudimentary extraction tools. After unsuccessfully completing the project, the Starfliers leadership formally renewed it, now wanting to complete it in it's entirety and give themselves a ship as distinct as the Starfliers themselves.

Discovery

.
.
.
Halpert's previous attempt to get Hyperspace Starfleet to build the ship didn't go to plan. The vessel made was one not compatible with our operations and considered a failure. Though with this experience under us, I have renewed this project and learned from what our Fighters and Freighters are capable of. Collating these ideas and designs will make the rest of this project much easier to accomplish.

Development

.
.

My efforts at this stage will be centered around the design of the ship. Making a list of what is important and piecing together a vessel, at least statistically, to match the Starfliers ethos. Halpert's reduction methodology in his own attempt does help us a lot here, to remove everything unnecessary to us and keep what is important. The result is a vessel that is a merge between a Light Fighter and a Freighter, while staying true to what the Starfliers stand for.

Construction &
Outcome

.
.
.
The final stage of this project. We will require significant support from a lawful company who is experienced in building small ships. Our plans would need to be submitted to them. All resources and financial requirements will need to be discussed with them, ideally resting on the financial end as we aren't able to bring massive amounts of resources. In the end, if everything goes well, seven of these ships will be built to replace our Dromedary fleet we currently have.

  • This project serves as a complete "Custom Ship Special Roleplay" request. With this perk, I'd like to ask to have both Starfliers explorers ('\S/'CEV-Luna and '\S/'CEV-Selene) to be replaced with the Vector. Due to the roleplay linked above. The ship is designed to be made on PoBs, not purchased from NPC bases. Any additional ones we will build ourselves as an internal rank reward for members.

Project: "Sol" - Starfliers - 11-19-2023

Specialized Research Vessel, Designation "Sol"
A retrofitted "Enterprise"-Class Luxury Liner
Current Status:
Research Project Completed

It's been quite some time since Burton Grant worked with Jonathan Seabourne to steal a such a liner from Planet Curacao. The job was rather simple: inspect the ship and assess it's suitability for a research-oriented retrofit. With Burton being arrested and his information lost in 828AS, the Starfliers had gathered enough details working directly with Orbital Spa & Cruise. A single Luxury Liner was purchased and schematics are being drawn up to have it become a specialized research vessel, one that can be placed above the Starfliers' "Bustard"-Class, '\S/'Velorum.

Over the last few weeks, research stations across Sirius had recorded a pulse, one that has disturbed the Jump Gate network. This disturbance was also recorded by the Starfliers, who were already in the process of preparing to purchase a single Luxury Liner. With the new details coming out about the Earhart System, the design plans of this ship were to be specialized in that particular field. The main bays where luxury halls and rooms would normally be will be replaced by storage containers specifically designed to hold extracted minerals such as ores and the recently discovered minerals from within Earhart. With plans being drawn up to make this ship a reality, we have recognized that the cargo containers will be unsuitable to carry anything else - making trading or general logistical ventures impractical. The ship is ultimately designed to replace the '\S/'Velorum, however the "Bustard"-Class still remains an operational asset for the Starfliers.

Main Features

  • Designation: '\S/'Sol, with digital paperwork matching all other Starfliers ships
  • Hyperspace Matrix which is linked into the Starfliers Hyperspace Network
  • Dual Hangar Bays for "Draugr"-Class Freighters equipped with mineral extraction hardware
  • Large Cloaking Device to conceal both the ship and it's contents
  • A downsized model of Kishiro Technologies' Rift-Leaping Jump Drive installed
  • Cargo bay designed to hold extracted minerals and ores. Not suitable for standard commodities.

Project: "Lucubrate" - Starfliers - 12-16-2023

S-APS01 "Lucubrate"-Class Active Probing Scanner
An improved version of the Mk. VIII Scanner
Starfliers Research Project

The standard All-Range All-Purpose Science Suite Probing Scanner is available to many independent and organized research organizations within Sirius. The "Lucubrate"-Class is a custom improvement over the "Augur"-Class, as it has been worked on over a few years. Researching various objects and anomalies within Sirius has enabled the Starfliers to tune the sensor for maximum efficiency, at a cost. Only three of these scanner would ever be built, to be installed within the Starfliers M.R.V. fleet.
.
.
.
.
STAGE I
Exploration & Discovery

.
.
.
After multiple years of using the All-Range All-Purpose Science Suite Probing Scanner, we had begun to reverse engineer the scanner to improve results. In order to start, we had to learn how the scanner performs against multiple types of objects to get a baseline to compare it to. In order for us to do this with the least financial strain possible, adverts were planned to be posted in order to gain some contract work. This way, we would be able to gain some insight as to what others wanted researched rather than ourselves.

.
.
.
STAGE II
Research & Development

.
.
.
Planning ahead is difficult when we are relying on contract work to come through. Assuming that a handful of jobs did come through with varying research subjects, we would use the data we recorded to begin improving the "Augur"-Class scanner. We had known already that tinkering with the effectiveness of the scanner was one of our priorities, however we had soon found that the bottleneck for this entire project was the reliance on the Anomaly Batteries. Efforts are planned to search for a substitute power source, one that removes the handicap of refueling whilst adjusting the scanner's effectiveness to match the source change.

.
.
.
STAGE III
Construction & Outcome

.
.
.
Once the scanner has been adjusted and a power source obtained, further investigation is required to ensure the power source is suitable to be integrated into our MRV fleet. If any anomalies or irregularities surface during this stage, the power source that we would be currently working with would be either safely disposed of or handed over to the Technocracy. Safety of our team is our number one priority, before making any form of technological advancement.

Project: "Gaia" - Starfliers - 12-27-2023

"Gaia"-Class Superior Hydroponics System
An expansion of the standard hydroponics bay allowing complete self-sufficiency
Starfliers Research Project

Over the recent years, the plans for Hydroponics have become widely available, making even the most remote of outposts easier to keep up supply of necessary resources. Starfliers Research Complex within the Inverness System is not one of these remote outposts, however the crew on board are quite numerous. Discussions are slowly taking place to dedicate a substantial subsection to Hydroponics, to enable the station to have 100% self-sufficiency. This in turn would allow the Starfliers to work on numerous projects at once, without the need to import goods and services.

In reality, the "Gaia"-Class Hydroponics System is mostly seen in space, connected to the Freeports as a biodome. These blueprints are planned to be either purchased or acquired to enable the same operational overhead the Freeports are accustomed to. The ultimate goal of the station's operational costs is to have as minimal costs possible whilst also providing the same services to nearby facilities.
.
.
.
.
Component I
Discovery

.
.
.
There are many Freeports in Sirius, many of which have a public display of their hydroponics facilities in space. Biodomes showing off their flora and fauna, providing necessities to the residents of the connected station. The Starfliers have operated a downsized version of the same hydroponics system, one that requires a significant upkeep of water and fertilizer to stay on top of production. The discovery side of this project is to enable and record any new technologies we discover that would allow us to build a similar system the Freeports use to stay self-sufficient.

.
.
.
Component II
Research

.
.
.
Not much can be said regarding the research side of an improved hydroponics system. It's designed to be scalable, depending on how many crew members and residents a single station has. However, with any station it does reach a point where the work needed to break even is quite big. Quite a substantial change is required in order to keep the staff well kept and happy. This is where we have reached out to other organizations and learned more about improving the standard hydroponics systems to match our current workload with over 1,700 crew.

.
.
.
Component III
Outcome

.
.
.
Combining the last two steps usually leads to the construction or completion of the project itself. In this case, the elements of the hydroponics system that would improve it substantially would have been learned and recorded. In addition to this, our teams would have been tasked with designing a similar system one tailer-made for the Starfliers Research Complex. Regular deliveries are required to complete such steps. Here our construction, deliveries and outcomes are usually kept recorded.

Project: "Observatory" - Starfliers - 04-20-2024

"Observatory"-Class Scientific Development Platform
A research platform dedicated to visually analyzing any object many light years away
Starfliers Research Project

Adding additional tasks to the team's roster is something leadership is looking into. Their main reasoning behind this is to keep minds active and to vary up what gets completed each day on board the Research Complex. With the recent improvements to the hydroponics system, the Starfliers now have an overhead of funds to spend on a new project, one that would enable new jobs on board the station.

This particular project is called the "Observatory"-Class. Many years have been spent understanding the Deep Space Explorer, it's equipment, research scanners, handling. With this understanding, the Starfliers' plan is to build a long-distance telescopic platform, utilizing similar hardware and software normally found on the Deep Space Explorer to record Research Data from a stationary position. Considering the parts needed to construct and maintain a fragile and intricate telescope, the Starfliers are prepared to make supply rounds to make sure replacement parts are available to keep the platform operational.
.
.
.
.
STAGE I
Exploration & Discovery

.
.
.
The major part of this project is learning how to build a telescopic platform. Efforts must be made to ensure that any data captured regarding telescopes or magnifying hardware must come from installations that have them perfectly operational. With this, the hardware found of a Deep Space Explorer must be removed and retrofitted to seamlessly integrate with this new observatory platform.

.
.
.
STAGE II
Research & Development

.
.
.
As this is a massive extension to the Research Complex, lots of work is needed to ensure that the right materials are needed for the job. With the Technocracy and Junker drydocks located within Inverness, the opportunity to have it constructed is a non-issue. The biggest problem is sourcing all the most appropriate materials, in their highest grade and fidelity.

.
.
.
STAGE III
Construction & Outcome

.
.
.
Once the materials have been compiled and a manifest generated, last steps require these drop-offs to land on Invergordon or Valravn, provided either the Junkers or the Technocracy are available to take on such a project. If this is unable to be accomplished, it may be the project falls apart. As having the observatory constructed outside of Inverness and then bringing the fragile telescopic rig through a jump hole would destroy it without question, before it reaches it's destination.

Project: "Devastation" - Starfliers - 09-30-2024

"Devastation" of the '\S/'RCV-Velorum
The untimely loss of the first ever Starfliers ship
Starfliers Research Project

With the invasion of Inverness by the Crayterian and LSF forces, the Starfliers have lended the Technocracy of Auxo the Velorum in order to increase their chances of surviving the seige. The plan was to provide supplies to the Zoners, using the Velorum is a supply point. Little did the Starfliers consider, that sending a weaponless Carrier into a warzone with similarly sized and armed combat forces would mean it's survival. Without contact from the Technocrats regarding the status of the Velorum, the vessel has been considered destroyed. A huge loss for the Starfliers in terms of both assets and staff morale.
.
.
.
.
STAGE 0
Recorded Events

.
.
.
For our own records, we will scour our own data logs for references and transmissions that have lead up to this loss. We intend to not repeat this with our specialized research vessel, the Sol, as it currently remains as our only capital vessel for the company. Our other ships, however small, are just as important, but are much more easily replaced. The loss of the Velorum will send immeasurable ripples throughout the company, as it was the symbol of what we stand for. This record may also be used to seek some form of assistance to recover from such a loss, however we are not hopeful that any organization will simply replace or refund what the Velorum meant to us.

"Provenance"-Class Home Base Overhaul
The transferal of all resources and manpower to the Sol, utilizing it's mobility and effectiveness as the new Headquarters of the Starfliers
Starfliers Research Project

Inline with reducing the amount of moving parts for the company, a proposal was sent internally asking the staff if they'd like to work onboard the Sol compared to their life on the Research Complex. A number of teams and pilots said yes, greenlighting the slow shift to the mobile research vessel. The husk of the former headquarters is planned to be donated to the local Technocrats for any salvageable scrap and materials for their own projects after the transferal to the '\S/'SRV-Sol is completed.
.
.
.
.
STAGE I
Exploration & Discovery

.
.
.
Locking down the Research Complex was a hard decision. The local Technocrats and Zoners going up against the bordering Crayter navy ships assisted by the LSF. We couldn't see much of the fighting, but we did lose our Bustard in the process. After some internal discussion and voting, it was decided to shift our base of operations to be more mobile. Transferring critical equipment and personel to our Specialized Research Vessel and enabling this ship to be our new home. After discovering dangers in the surrounding systems, primarily Ontario and Coronado, and also within Inverness, we have called for an all-hands alert to get the Technocrats to speed up the transferal at their drydock.

.
.
.
STAGE II
Research & Development

.
.
.
This record is designed to compile our efforts to ensure that our Core Computing Unit from our old Research Complex is transferred to the SRV-Sol. With the Technocrats busy with their own affairs, and their drydock being utilized for the efficient transfer, contact was established with SLRC due to the history with their home station. Certain illegal commodities were sourced to ensure that our computing unit was adjusted appropriately before installation within the Sol would start.

Project: "Obsidian" - vesoul - 10-21-2024

"OBSIDIAN"-Class - Improved Sample Extraction
A new mining and sample extraction array able to shear materials as significant depths.

Often the Starfliers catalogue various wrecks and sampling of material components. Often these extraction methods rely on high-energy, concussive impact arrays to break the sample host into tractor-able masses. To compensate for this, the Starfliers utilize a lower-energy variance of a standard EMT-14S "Grinder" Mining Array, known for its high accuracy and efficiency in long mining operations.

These modifications, when put against any material without structural integrity issues, equates to cutting a rock with an Eco-plastics Spoon. Inefficient at best, ridiculous at worst.

The following plan details a custom blueprint which will allow nanometer-scale separation of samples from material host, while preserving exclusion of foreign energy pollution of samples, and significant improvements of wreck recovery and analysis.

This project bears its name for the efficiencies of obsidian shards able to achieve a 2-3 nm wide cutting surface without manual intervention. Even small cutting surfaces are possible under specific conditions. This natural material acts as the benchmark of success for this project
