Can We Make an Updated Sticky Thread for Mods and Performance Tips. - Alastair_S1D - 06-22-2024
Can we get an updated thread for the Discovery mod installation and performance tips. All in an easy to find location. I have struggled to find information with regards to some of the below topics and I think an organized place to find it for newbies might help them if they have the same concerns.
Mainly for example what other mods are compatible or partially compatible with Discovery.
Like Swag pack still valid or not
Freelancer HD edition etc.
The discovery team has done great work with disco and the way it looks. But you can still see its an old game. The HD mod definitely updates some assets to a great level. Are there other graphics mods out there that are compatible with Disco?
Performance tips. D3D8 to D3d9 fix that Grosyr posted. -noframelimit, 155 fps limit etc.
Some of these have been hard for me to find but I got there.
And then I need some assistance.
I have had to start playing on my laptop for the time being, as my desktop is having a bit of an issue.
The laptop is powered by a Ryzn 5500U with a Vega 7. Not powerful by today's standards but is more than adequate for a video game that is old enough to drink.
I have the 5500U running on a 60Watt profile. The Vega 7 running at 2150Mhz. I have the D3D8 to D3D9 update installed. NoFrameLimit set in the launcher. And 155 fps limiter set. But I am still running at my Vsync frame rate of 81fps. Any ideas anyone?

Use RivaTuner Statistics Server to set your fps. Once you run the program it will not be capped anymore at 81 fps

If anything, I'd suggest creating a tutorial somewhere, have it all centralized and then ping the moderators to add it into here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=200550
There is a spot for it, though with all the info halfway scattered across this website, I can't blame the OP being a little frustrated.

So I am managing to get 155 with the game windowed. But Full screen no luck
