Aegis| Feedback Thread - The Aegis Initiative - 08-22-2024

Post feedback here!

RE: Aegis| Feedback Thread - TheSauron - 08-22-2024

I am posting this here as you do not seem to have a feedback thread. If there is one and I missed it, feel free to move the post there.

Your ID has the following line:

Aegis Initiative ID Wrote:- Can attack competitors (Freelancers & BHG) outside of House Space.

What do you need this line for?

Why is this line not mirrored on the baseline BHG ID?

Aegis are not nice people and they don't play nice, it's flavour and is written as such on its infopage. It just lets them act how they're supposed to inrp.

As for why it's not mirrored, I don't think having john bounty hunter /1 /2ing john newbie on his freelancer ID exploring the omegas for the first time is a great idea. It at least makes sense if it's a big evil red pirate. Less so if it's a bounty hunter and they've done anything but earn a bounty.

Does competitor mean the Freelancer/BHG character needs to actually work on a contract in that moment or are Freelancer ID and BHG ID generally targets Aegis can shoot?

I didn't mean BHG being able to shoot Freelancers, but BHG being able to shoot Aegis. The way it is right now, you have a license to execute your own indies at will while enjoying complete immunity from retaliation.

If there's enough of a gulf between Aegis and the Guild for you to shoot fellow Hunters, then your fellow Hunters should be able to shoot you as well. If your fellow Hunters shouldn't be shooting you, then you should not be able to engage them either. This sort of one-sided immunity is a horrible imbalance of power, doubly so since you're targeting your own NPC faction with it.

If I was particularly uncharitable in interpreting this setup, I'd say you were deliberately positioning yourself to snuff out any competing BHG factions while engineering a ruleset that renders them unable to fight back lest they get sanctioned into oblivion.

i think the reason why they have this is because of a vanilla infocard reference where some hunters are so competitive for the kill for cash that they sometimes sabotage or kill their pals

but i do agree it should be a two way street

I don't mind the ability for them to have some infighting. I take issue with it being one sided. If they want to compete so much they fight over marks, then both sides should be able to initiate it. Otherwise we end up with another Sigma-15, but this time it's an OF bullying its own indies.

The best faction and the best pilots on the server!)

RE: Aegis| Feedback Thread - Burnsie - 07-14-2025

Overall, I’d call it an okayish encounter. The RP itself was solid and honestly pretty funny at points—nice work on that front. The only thing I’d point out is this: if the bounty is on Experimental Ship Data and not the ship itself, then the focus should be on the data being carried. Blowing up someone without the cargo isn’t really in the spirit of the contract. Think of it like if I’m hired to grab Chenzo’s Moonfire BP—I don’t get to pop every Chenzo alt I see if they don’t have it. Same deal here. Besides that detail, good job overall!

You've been given an interaction that lasted over 25+ minutes and an out to live by handing over what we needed, BHG don't give two shits about anything else. If your Chenzo is bountied for having cargo and you refuse to log that Chenzo and log every other variation of Chenzos to bait people to hunt you wrongfully (doesn't work cus AI are Alien ID and can be shot on sight regardless which I could've done 10 seconds in) that's mostly on you for not refusing to play along and potentially avoiding RP consequence by hogging iRP bountied cargo.
