Anyone entering Bretonian space has likely encountered CDI or spoken with one of the constables in this militia. To gain a deeper understanding of their operations, we sent our trusted reporter, Kris Jenkins, to gather more in-depth information. But first, here’s a brief overview of this unique organization.

The Civil Defense Initiative (CDI) was formed during one of Bretonia's darkest hours—the Gallia invasion, which culminated in the devastating loss of Leeds. Desperate to maintain order, the crown began siphoning manpower and equipment from all branches, including the Bretonia Police Authority (BPA). With the BPA stretched thin and under-equipped, opportunistic criminals swarmed in, exploiting the unprotected space. CDI was created to fill these critical gaps, focusing on safeguarding trade routes in Cambridge and Omega-3. True to its name, it is a Civil Defense Initiative tasked with holding the line against the Mollys, Corsairs, and Hessians—challenges all too familiar to residents of the Omegas.

In recent times, however, the CDI has come under scrutiny, with reports of bribery, incompetence, on-duty inebriation, racketeering, and similar allegations.
