I hope this message finds you well. I apologize for not responding to this in a timely manner. I understand that you had some inquiries on my stances surrounding Nomads and their presence within our homelands. In all honestly, Signora, I don't know what I don't know. I won't claim to have any sort of expertise on the subject. My policy has been and will continue to be to steer clear of them at all costs.

As for potential... contamination... I think that any compromised Maltese citizens when it comes to alien exposure should be eliminated. We don't know the motives of these creatures, and likely never will. If it were up to me, I would treat any contaminated Maltese like I would any Maltese who decides to go turncoat - with extreme prejudice.

As for the reason for MY message, it's about Coronado.

I was called out on patrol after a couple of my ships launched distress beacons in Tau-31. I couldn't find them. I, however, found a researcher roaming the Taus, seemingly by herself. Goes by the name of Thallia Thorn. Thorn mentioned that there were multiple ships of Kusarian origin roaming through Tau-31, which is out-of-character for them. Scrambled IFFs, potentially intelligence cells. They're presumed dead, but I wasn't there to substantiate the claim. My men are still missing, and I haven't found any remains near the routes they would have taken. Last communications relay unknown hostiles. Other than that, I have no knowledge.

She pointed me in the direction of Coronado. What she showed me there was... unsettling. A planet, or moon, seemingly, with some sort of Alien activity. Given the frequency of the Crayterian patrols, I didn't stay long. I escorted the researcher to Freeport 10 in Tau-37, and she is under my escort wing's protection while she does research from her side into the matter. In return, she will help me track down my missing soldiers, as we both agree that these events are likely related.

I assume you're more familiar with the situation in Coronado where I am. I also believe that you and Victor Alesci, one of my soldiers, have some unfinished business to take care of within that system. I propose a joint investigation between yourself and my soldiers to determine that dangers in Coronado present themselves to the greater Maltese society. I don't want to call in the larger armadas until we know what we're dealing with here. While we're there, we can handle your prior problem that lies there. I think it will be mutually beneficial for both of us.

In the coming weeks, I would like to stage a meeting between yourself, my men, and Thorn, to devise a plan of action surrounding this. I eagerly await your reply.

I count myself fortunate. In recent years, particularly in the last few months, fortune has been liberal with her favour; the objectives I set have been achieved, in whole or in part.

I am pleased that we are aligned on the question of the Nomads and their thralls. Despite our past experiences, some of us still seem willing to hazard both life and soul for a counterfeit solace. “Gods” who seek fealty by theft of body and mind merit neither reverence nor forbearance.

As for Kusari’s livelier posture in the Taus, I would not call it suspicious per se, given their evident preparations for war with Liberty. Each House will probe every weakness to hobble its rival. Liberty’s interests have been conspicuously fixed upon Planet Harris; discreet sources whisper of a new Cryer facility. Should it exist, such a target would tempt Kusari to grow bolder -- particularly where Bretonian sensibilities demand plausible deniability. But this is merely my personal speculation.

Regarding our guest, the researcher Thallia Thorn: I shall respect your decision and extend her the courtesies due. She appears to be among the responsible few. I hope that she has been informed which parts of our home system are off-limits for outsiders.

I am willing to meet with you and your men, Signor Di Medici, and share what I know of Coronado’s recent events. Barrier Gate is almost a third home to me, after Malta and my own vessel. Where do you wish to meet with me -- shall we meet at Malta's orbit, or somewhere more discreet?

And lastly, you may set aside concern for the vessel previously reported missing. Her crew were rescued by a free trader some months ago. All are alive and well, and I have already provided them with a new ship.
