WV-Lockdown, siege of Cairo - Hitman-76 - 02-01-2025

Siege of Cairo Report, Duke Silverton

Weapons tested and battle ready, the WV-Lockdown was selected from the fleet to lead the main force from the secondary fleet. I am surprised, but honored at the selection. The objective was simple, destroy any defenders and reclaim Cairo. This has been a long-awaited day, when our enemy was too focused on other tasks, that we take full control over Omicron Zeta. Our fleet consisted of multiple fighters, gunships, battlecruisers, and the one and only WV-Mars. Along with the Mars, there were experimental drones that were harvested from Gammu AI, they proved to be most vital in our attack.

Our enemy was strong, but we were stronger. With multiple of our ships in bound on their position with aggressive play, they fell like flies one by one. Multiple capitals, gunboats and fighters alike were destroyed during the battle. Clearly their technology was inferior compared to ours, as they had far more losses than we did. Once we cleared out their defenders, we went to go hit our main objective, the OCV-Romales. Our weapons were finely attuned to penetrate its armor, as they had special plating impervious to normal attacks. However, we managed to hit maximum damage to our target, and I believe it will soon perish out there.

After we hit our objective, a counter fleet from supposedly Omicron Mu came to attempt to attack us. They were too late however, even though they managed to disable my ship *irritated* they once again were beaten back as WV-Mars, WV-Orion, and WV-Phonpei managed to hold the line along with the secondary fleet. This concludes my report, long live the Core.

Again at the head of the charge, our ships gathered once again for a final assault on Cairo. Their fleet setup was almost exactly the same, as was ours. They seem to haven't learned their lesson, as they once again dropped like flies to our mighty and superior technology. Before the siege however, I was given direct orders from high command of the WV-Mars about how we needed to look good out there. We had some nice photos for their marketing team, as our statistics showed that we were making great progress.

As we headed forth to finish off the OCV-Romales, we were getting strange comms from the WV-Mars. They however claimed it was just a reactor issue, and a defense force awaited outside while it did its reboot procedure. So with nothing to fear we continued our assault on the OCV-Romales and anyone attempting to stop us. Eventually after heavy fighting, the battlecruiser was destroyed and our victory was at hand. Although... we had some major losses as well as something else, that could potentially be very dangerous.

WV-Mars ran into another problem just as we were evacuating back to the WV-Orion and WV-Phonpei. They claimed they were losing control over the comms and the helm, and then after that it all went damned quiet. Our ship has taken its toll on damage, and we weren't able to record anything out of the helm, but our transmission emitters managed to pick up this...

The WV-Mars was infected by an AI virus and escaped, I ordered to take it down and that didn't go to plan. The Order came in huge numbers that wasn't on the tactical debrief, and a load of AI drones from Gammu engaged and eradicated our remaining forces and disabled my ship, again. We were forced a tactical retreat to the WV-Orion and the WV-Phonpei, as we were unable to stop the WV-Mars from escaping. No human survivors were found.[/spoiler]

With the WV-Mars compromised, half our fleet obliterated, and my ship on its last of its hull plating belt armor, things were NOT looking good. Our fleet was forced to fight on the enemy's terms, we were given poor information, superior enemy numbers, and our flagship has now been hijacked by some rogue AI. We are on our last legs out here, fighting an impossible battle that we should have easily won. The remnants of the fleet at my side waited with me in dead silence, waiting for the coming final battle in the defense of Capetown. We stood no chance. The Order brought another armada of such a size that I personally have not seen in a long time... to finish us off at all costs...
