Commanding Officer LNS Constellation

Admiral Jack Boehm

Secretary of Defense Robert McKay:

Secretary McKay,

Earlier today the Constellation undertook a standard sweep of Libertonian space to ensure the safety of trade moving throughout Liberty. While we were near Pittsburgh, my sensors officer picked up a long range anomaly out past Maine inside of a dense particle cloud. I ordered for us to close on the location of the anomaly, and as we approached sensors managed to detect that it was a small space station. Upon our arrival, we found an opening in the particle field and found the base in the middle of this opening. The base, which is called Rooney's Steel Forge and is flying a Junker affiliated transponder, opened fire upon the Constellation as we approached. I ordered several probes to be launched to take scans of the base, and will attach a visual scan below.

Upon returning to Norfolk to report this discovery, I found that it would seem this is a popular location for illegal base construction, with a report about a joint Navy-LSF operation that destroyed a similar base in the same location back in 800 AS. I'm forwarding this report to the First and Forty-Sixth Fleets as well, and leave the information for the Defense Department to do what they will with.
